I have been toying with this idea for some time, and thought I would see if there is any interest.
My thought is to meet around a picnic table in Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island, and bring books and maps that one no longer needs or wants, placing them on the table for others to see and take. No formal discussion topics, just an informal meet and greet, and the opportunity to recycle these items and/or gather up some new ones. And maybe meet a new forum friend.
I chose Mercer Island as it is convenient for both Seattle and Eastside residents. And for me, because I live here. Luther Burbank Park is close to the freeway with easy access and ample parking. It is also an easy walk from the Mercer Island Park and Ride for those who would take public transport. The Park & Ride is well served by the 550 bus from either downtown Seattle or Bellevue.
The picnic tables are scattered around a large open lawn area that slopes down to the lake. It is adjacent to a very nice large off-leash area, and you are welcome to bring your dog to the meeting (leashed at this point) for a romp and maybe a swim afterwards.
For time frame, I am thinking of late March or early April, on a non-rainy Saturday morning.
I hope to hear that there is some interest—no commitment, just trying to gauge if it worth my time to proceed with planning this. Please post responses on this thread rather than by private message. Thanks.
