Sacramento Travel Meeting - Saturday July 16th @ 10:00

It's that time again to meet with fellow travelers to talk about ---travel!

As always we meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Location -
Panera Bread
3571 North Freeway Blvd., Sacramento

This is off I-80, using the Truxel Rd. exit.

Everyone who wants to discuss their upcoming trips, reminisce about past trips, or just hang out and talk about travel is welcome.

Who's planning to be there? Everyone is welcome, but it's a good idea to let us know if you're coming. It gives us an idea of how many people we need to have seating for.

Lauri, I look forward to seeing you and Ed. Will you be at the Bay Area meeting? I'm going this month.

Aaah! Sweet memories! I can't believe it's already been 3 weeks since the last Sacramento meeting. It was so much fun for me and so great to meet many of you and to see Andrea and Eileen again.

Andrea, have you thought about what country we're meeting in next time? I think it's time to start a Europe Travel meeting; how about Prague or Paris in late September?

It could be a floating meet-up in Europe; if you're available, you can get together. Everyone's invited!

(Oh, yeah - I'll be there Sat!)

I sure hope Andrea, Lauri, and Ed brought us gifts from Europe! I'm hoping for a giant stuffed Eiffel Tower, or a huge inflatable Leaning Tower, or a case of Czech beer, or a Venetian glass chandelier, or some nice gold earrings from Florence, or...

I'll be at Spanish Bay communing with the otters.

It was great having the Idaho contingent joining us last month!

@Eileen -- sorry, you must have us confused with those other nice people who bring back gifts. ;-) But we'll be there with our presence, even if no presents. Unless you're up for baked goods...

Lauri, you're just being coy ;-) I just know that you and Ed brought 1-2 extra empty suitcases in order to bring back all of our goodies. (But I also like baked goodies!)

Susan and Monte...I don't know...you're treading dangerously close to being booted from the group. We really need to talk about priorities... ;-)

Matt (and Miss J, I presume?) - it will be great to see you two! I read your great blog, but I still need to hear more details about your RS tour!

FYI - I'll have my airline blankets in the car if it feels like a meat locker again 8^0

I won't be able to make it this time. We'll be in the Burney Falls, Lassen Park area for the weekend.

David, bless her little heart. She's putting on a brave face ;-)

I'm having a change of heart; after I unilaterally booted Kevin from the group for bragging about how easily he sleeps on airplanes 8^O perhaps we can revisit his 'permanent' suspension after 6 months...He was generally well-behaved up until that unfortunate remark...

I forgot - Rob, just let me know where to meet y'all at Lassen... ;-) It's soooo beautiful there!

The otters will have to wait for a week, so I'll exchange that salt air for an elusive Panera soufflé this Saturday. (Meaning I'll be there.)

Spent hours looking for a motel in the Monterey area which was crazy making. Anybody have any recs for sites to find hotel reservations?
It was easier booking a room in Amsterdam!

Looking forward to seeing ya'll.

We're planning on being there. We had such a great time talking to you all last month. We're looking forward to seeing who we will meet this time. See you next Saturday.

Wow, Eileen -- good thing I didn't ever mention that I can sleep on planes, trains, cars. buses, even occasionally nod off on BART. (Although at 5'4" it's easier for me to get comfortable in plane seats than for taller people.)

Yea, Barry & Diana! I look forward to seeing you.

Lauri, Kevin never baked brownies, so...just sayin'. And baklava can cover a multitude of sins... ;-) I think you're fine, but No Bragging about the sleep thing.

I will sit outside and watch through the window as I pay my penance for professing my ability to sleep on a plane. It really is an economic curse though, to sleep in flight, after all, I miss out on the free movies, delicious meals, and beautiful views from 37,000 feet, all of which I am charged for despite not partaking of them. I should get a discount, but no, I am subsidizing those of you that stay awake and use more than your share of the services you paid for. So you see, instead of banishing me, you should be thanking me for keeping your travel costs down. I will wave through the window to you. :-)

It's a tough job, Kevin, but somebody's gotta do it. (Just as long as you're not sleeping in the aisle seat when I need to visit the restroom mid-flight ...)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. Even Eileen.

Wish I could be there. You all are such lovely people!

You can plan a floating meeting here in the transit hub of Europe. Have tried unsuccessfully to get one going. Those of you who came through last month though, caught me in the middle of moving CHAOS, and I sadly couldn't meet up with anyone. I will do better next time. Promise.

Ms. Jo, I was so disappointed that our plan to meet up last month didn't work out. I'm sure there will be another time, either there or here. When you move here you can come to all of our meetings. 😉

And since we're all serial travelers, there will be other times -- especially since Frankfurt is one of Ed's favorite airports.

Sacramento Group, have a great meeting! I'll be thinking of you and remembering a wonderful day visiting with you all--thanks again!

I was hoping to come to Sacramento for the meeting, feeling the need for some Rick Steves - type travel energy.
(I've booked my flights for my Fall trip but am disheartened/saddened by this week's tragedy in Nice and attempted coup in Turkey.)
However, my wallet went missing tonight and I now don't have a driver's license in my possession. (I've cancelled my credit card and will deal with the DMV and Kaiser tomorrow or Monday.) So I am reluctant to risk driving about 165 miles without the documentation necessary ...
So wish me luck in recreating my identity (!!!) and raise a brownie or baclava for me!
Love you all ...

SharYn, I'm sorry to hear about your wallet. Maybe it will show up. Lauri & Ed are coming to the meeting. Could you possibly ride with them? If not, maybe next month. I'm eager to hear about the plans for your trip and I'm looking forward to seeing you in Paris!

SharYn, sorry I didn't see your post earlier since we did indeed drive to Sacramento and would certainly have picked you up. Good luck with replacing your missing cards -- once you have done that, the wallet may well reappear.
