Sacramento Travel Meeting - Saturday 3/19 @ 10:00 a.m.

It's that time again to meet with fellow travelers to talk about --- travel!!

As always, we meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Location-
Panera Bread 3571 North Freeway Blvd. Sacramento. This is off I-80, using the Truxel Rd. exit.

Everyone who wants to discuss their upcoming trips, reminisce about past trips, or just hang out and talk about travel is welcome.

Who's planning to be there? Everyone is welcome, but it's a good to let us know. It gives us an idea of how many people we need to have seating for.

Reservations for THREE, please -- out-of-town guest will be carted along. You can ask her about plans for August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse! Final itinerary for our April-May trip, including hotel names and addresses.
EDIT: In case of rain, we may need to bail on the drive. Mechanic diagnosed the windshield wipers problem (which kept us from the Larkspur meeting last week) as a broken part which has not been manufactured for years -- so we now have a fair-weather-only automobile. Another downside of driving a 30-year-plus Volvo. :-(

Laura B, I know our meetings get really crowded at times (most of the time) and sometimes it's hard to talk to everyone, but we must discuss our rendezvous in Venice. Please don't let me forget.

Darcy, I believe she leaves before you arrive on May 6th. Will you have a phone with you? We also need to plan our rendezvous.

We definitely need to plan our rendezvous. Piazza San Marco might be a wee bit too vague! You'll have your bags with you, won't you? In that case maybe we should meet at or near your hotel so that afterwards you can grab your bags and hop on the vaporetto?

We should be able to store our bags at the hotel. We are staying at Pensione Guerrato, near the Rialto.

David, yes we did. That's why it's called a monthly meeting. 🙄

Laura B, the forecast for Saturday is 73 and sunny. If you can't make it we will need to make our plans to meet in Venice via email. I hope you and Ed can make it to the meeting though!

Barry and Diana Gray are planning to attend. We have invited 4 friends who are traveling with us on our upcoming trip but not sure yet if they will be able to attend this meeting. We leave for our 6 week European adventure on April 13, 2016. We're hoping to pick up some travel tips on Saturday. See you there!

Welcome Barry & Diana! We look forward to meeting you. Look for us at the large table in the middle of the room. In the event (has only happened once or twice) that our table is already occupied we push other tables together. Look for Rick Steves books on the table.

I want to extend a very big note of appreciation to this group and those of you in the San Francisco group. The fact that so many of you came to Sausalito to meet me and my daughter was amazing. Then, to have you buy our lunches at that fabulous restaurant was such a surprise and truly heartwarming. I am still flabbergasted at your generosity and warm welcome to California. Our trip was made ever so special with this meet-up. Now, all I have to do is move there and be able to see all of you on a regular basis.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Making and meeting friends on this forum is just the best! I hope I can extend the same hospitality to any of you coming this way in Germany.

Ms. Jo, it was our pleasure. I enjoyed spending time with you and your lovely daughter. If you do move here you know that you will already have friends welcoming you. I hope to see you in June when I'm in Germany.

My wife and I enjoyed our time last Saturday. I was a little concerned that she wouldn't be comfortable meeting all of these travel enthusiasts since she gets enough of that at home, but she enjoyed meeting people and I think it inspired her dreams of travel in a few years time.

Hi Sac Area Group,

Have any of you been to Sicily? Anyone been there over Christmas? Looking for advice. Happy to attend the meeting if someone has been there. Might not make the April meeting because of college visits with our senior, but probably one after that.
Thanks again,

One or maybe both of us, Dave and Lindy, plan to come this Saturday 4/16. Newbie travelers to France. Have an 18-day plan drawn up and need to start to reserve transportation and rooming; passes and reservations;
and think about additional venues such as markets, wine tastings, tours, etc.
