Sacramento Travel Meeting - April 16th @ 10:00 a.m.

It's that time again to meet with fellow travelers to talk about --- travel!!

As always, we meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Location-
Panera Bread 3571 North Freeway Blvd. Sacramento. This is off I-80, using the Truxel Rd. exit.

Everyone who wants to discuss their upcoming trips, reminisce about past trips, or just hang out and talk about travel is welcome.

Who's planning to be there? Everyone is welcome, but it's a good to let us know. It gives us an idea of how many people we need to have seating for.

Jim and I will be there. I'll want to get last minute info before my trip!

Congratulations David on being first. We will be thinking about all of you on the 16th -- would even have tried to Skype or What's app to the meeting but we will be on a train between Avignon and Nice. Sigh -- life is tough!
Biggest success moments so far: United flight SFO-CDG with only 20 passengers in economy; used a chip-and-signature card in RER ticket machine.
Have a great meeting!

We'll be out of town that weekend (16th/17th), but hope to make the May or June gathering.

Best travels to Andrea & Jim on your upcoming trip, as well as Ed & Lauri who are already in country.

Andrea, How fun that you, Lauri and Ed will be meeting up in Venice! Who knew they have a Panera there!

Susan, they opened a Panera just because they knew we were coming. ;-)

Well, it is now abalone season....so....likely we will not be there unless the weather is bad and conditions make diving impossible. If we stay home, we will be there!

So good of Panera!

Susan, Happy Abalone-ing!

Andrea, what's up with this? You never told me we were meeting at Panera in Venice! Do they serve cafe italiano, limoncello and wine there?

Looking forward to meeting the Sacramento Group at the June meeting!

Darcy, when we meet in Venice we most certainly won't meet at Panera! Not that there is one there. ;-) I will meet you at your hotel as planned and I most certainly will have scouted out a nice place where we can have a real drink. Wine, limoncello, who knows!!

Lauri and Ed will be meeting me and my friend for a gondola ride. I can't wait!

David, I've heard about Eileen's home-made limoncello, not to mention how much she likes it. I suspect she and Andrea like it as much as I do!
Andrea, I must say, I am thrilled that there isn't a Panera in Venezia...We don't even have one here in the Lewiston/Clarkston Valley or even in Moscow or Pullman. (And I'm sure there isn't one in Troy!) I like your idea of scouting out a nice place before we even arrive so we won't waste a minute.

It's count-down time now!

The limoncello that Eileen, Susan and I made was with lemons from my Meyer lemon tree. We sold our house last year and the biggest complaint I had from friends was that they weren't going to be able to get my lemons any longer. Eileen has a neighbor with a Meyer lemon tree. She needs to kiss up to them for some lemons so we can make some more. Darcy, I do have some of that delicious limoncello still. Remind me to bring some to the June meeting. We will find a way for you to have a little taste.

I have a wonderful meyer lemon tree. Twist my arm and I might come to next week's meeting with a bag full.

SharYn, you, and your lemons, are always welcome at our meetings. ;-)

I leave for Italy in 19 days. If there is any limoncello making done, someone will need to babysit mine while I'm gone.

Good to know Sharyn! To quote Eileen.. I love me some lemons! Oh wait, I'm not the Sac group...

Wanna know what my favorite kind of lemon is??... Lemon Meringue Pie!!

Susan, you are an honorary member of the Sacramento group. I also love lemon meringue pie!

oooh! oooh! Andrea! I wouldn't miss the June Sacramento meeting for anything now! I'll bring a straw so we can hold the limoncello under the table!

Eileen babysit the limoncello? Ha! I'll never get any back if that happens.

Seas look like they will likely be too rough, so we should be coming!

Save two seats for us, and I'll recognize mine since it'll have the two bottles of Limoncello, right?

I will save your seats Susan. David can sit at the other end of the table if he doesn't like it. :-P I won't be there in May.

HEY, I resemble all of those remarks!

Andrea, the neighbor-lemon-tree-thing will probably never result in a bag of lemons landing on my front porch; I talked to him and found out that he planted the tree, so he probably wants the lemons. I did tell him that if he ever found himself overwhelmed with lemons that he could always leave a bag of them on my porch ;-)

Glad that David and Susan & Monte will be there after all, and that Larry & Rob can make it.

Yes, SharYn, you can always bring any excess lemons! I don't think you can bring too many ;-)

Good to hear from you, Lauri & Ed! 20 in Economy?!? Wow!!! Perhaps CDG isn't the most attractive airport these days, unfortunately. And Hooray on the RER chip-and-signature card success! After spending many an attempt at those machines, even when they were supposed to take American cards, I can understand The Thrill of Victory you felt :-)

Matt, you two are excused. We'll need a signed excuse note, of course...

One note coming up, signed Epstein's Mother's Doctor. :)

The limoncello thing is still on... we have a Meyers Lemon tree which yields around Oct/Nov (however the past few years it's hardly produced anything at all). We are noticing 'promising' buds from this winter's rains, so there should be a bag forthcoming for the table and someone's home-brew talents.

Matt, your note is accepted. :-)

Anyone who provides lemons will receive limoncello in return. Meyers are preferred.

Eileen, we planted our lemon tree too. But we got so many lemons from it there was no way we could use them all. Our orange tree never produced as much as the lemon. I think your neighbor just doesn't want to share.

Andrea, last meeting before your big trip! So excited for you!

Thanks Susan! I can't wait! Just over 2 weeks to go. It's going to be a challenge getting around with a knee brace, but I'm just going to have to do the best I can.

In a klutzy move I sprained my knee pretty badly. The good news is I no longer need crutches. According to my doctor, a sprain takes longer to heal than a fracture.

Oh NO! Andrea! You've got 2 weeks to do some speed healing before hopping off and on vaporetti and a gondola--you can do it, I know you can! See you soon, Andrea.
Have a good meeting, Sacramento Group!

Darcy, the injury occurred about 3 1/2 weeks ago. The bruises are still visible. I went to the ER immediately when my knee blew up to the size of a softball. I went to my doctor a few days ago because I was concerned about how long it was taking to heal. I'm sure it won't impact the trip too much. In Venice we will rely more on the vaparettos and I will try to limit my walking as much as reasonably possible. I changed the car rentals to automatics. I was very nervous about our hotel in Venice, because our room is on the 4th floor. I emailed them and explained the situation. They have very kindly relocated us to a room on the 2nd floor.

At least this happened at home. I tripped. It can happen anywhere. A good reminder of why travel insurance is so important.

See everyone soon!!

I know Susan, but better that it happened here than in Italy!
