Sacramento Meeting is on Saturday July 20

Do you enjoy talking about travel? Are you planning a trip? Maybe you just returned from a trip and want to talk about it? Come join us!

Our meetings are on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m., always at the same location.

You can find us at Panera Bread, 3571 North Freeway Blvd, Sacramento. This is off I-80, using the Truxel Rd. exit.

Anyone wanting to hang out and talk about travel is welcome.

Who plans to come? Everyone is welcome, but it's helpful to know who will be there. It gives us an idea of how many people we need to have seating for.

If this is your first time, you can find us by looking for the Rick Steves books on the table.

Too late, Paris flights up to $400 now. I thought about it, but didn't get any. You gotta be quick!

That’s too bad Warren but still not a bad price. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a non-budget airline price as low as $290 r/t from the west coast. Maybe they were responding to the recent Norwegian announcement of year round flights out of SFO.

Just bumping this up to see who else may be coming.

Just to let you all know, we won't be at the meeting this month because we are on a camping trip in Oregon. I'll miss seeing everyone.

Things are getting more complicated for us as we have a 6+ hour drive prior to the Panera meeting and now we must stop at the Sacramento airport to rent a car for our Sunday trip to SFO. If all of these things go off without a hitch we’ll stop in briefly for lunch and last minute advice, if not see you in August!

Mona, I hope you have a wonderful trip! Enjoy the meeting everyone. I'll be there in spirit while I'm hiking in the redwoods.

Andrea - where’s your favorite spot to see redwoods? I’ve been meaning to take an early drive to CA to see them for a day perhaps. A place that’s easy to drive to, then perhaps park and walk some nice trails with great redwoods around. Something I definitely need to do now that I’m living in Reno!

Brian - I love the redwoods. I'm on an extended RV trip through Oregon. Right now I'm camping in Brookings, just north of the California border. We are going to Redwood National and State Park, which is in California and about a 30 minute drive from here. It will be my first time there. Tomorrow we move a bit further south to our next camping area in the heart of the redwoods, to the place where I spent what was probably the best summer of my life. I was 15 years old. I always feel like I'm coming home when I'm there. That is the Garberville area. It's just south of the Avenue of the Giants. To have enough time there you would need several days. From Reno, for a one day taste of the redwoods, I suggest you go to Muir Woods. It's in Marin County, just north of San Francisco. If you can spare an overnight it would be even better.

Thanks so much! I'll definitely have to check some of those places out. And Muir Woods sounds like it'd certainly be worth an overnight, at least!

If you haven't been to San Francisco, it would be easy to combine with that. Or if you want to explore another area, Marin is close to Sonoma County. There you will find wineries, beaches, Armstrong Woods State Park (Redwoods) and much more.
