Report of Atlanta Travel group meeting July 31

Our group met yesterday in person at the Panera Bread in Powers Ferry Square on Roswell Rd. We have met a few times in person but I haven’t posted a notice here for awhile.
We had a great meeting and hosted an honored guest from Spartanburg, SC, our friend, Dave!

It was a pleasure to meet you and put a face to the name. I enjoyed hearing you tell us some of your adventures in Berlin, such a pleasure.

FYI, Dave flew to Atlanta to meet with us. We asked him if it was worth it and he said, “yes”. We hope Dave will be able to join us again and bring some of his SC travel friends.

A note to other Atlanta forum members we will meet again on Saturday August 21 at 11 am. Hope to see some new faces.

I enjoyed the meeting, too. it was my pleasure to meet all of you. It was well worth the frequent flyer miles burned to get there. I have been trying to get to a meeting for about 2 years. It's about a 3-hour drive from where I live, but I am chronically sleep-deprived from my job. I was afraid I wouldn't stay awake coming or going, so I decided to do a non-stop flight from my local airport and then Uber to the meeting (well, Lyft actually... tied to the Delta frequent flyer program [airline, not COVID strain]).

I know there are a handful of Upstate SC people on the board. My friend Chuck and I would definitely be interested in starting a group in the Greenville area, if there is interest. Leave a comment on this thread or PM me if interested.

Now, if I could convince Rick Steves himself to drop in on one of our meetings…I’m sure we would need a larger space for our meeting.😍

Dave, go for it! Kim (not Paris Kim) and I started a group in the Tulsa area exactly 5 years ago, and have had a wonderful time. We've met lots of new people, made new friends, and some of us have even traveled together!

Most of the folks who come live within about 15 miles of our meeting place, but we have a few folks who have come from up to 40 or 50 miles away. And one woman drove down from Kansas City, almost 300 miles, just to meet with us! However, I'm tempted to give the "longest distance" award to Kim from Paris, but she didn't come here just to see us. At least, she didn't tell her parents that was her real reason. :-)
