What do you want to know about our Italy trip? The good stuff? Or the screw ups? Cause we can go either way!

See you all soon

“It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.”

Charles Dickens used that line in “A Tale of Two Cities” about London and Paris but I swear he lifted it from a trip report on Italy. Paul and I arrived back a very soggy few weeks ago. I forgot how divinely beautiful and how maddeningly frustrating Italy is all at the same time.

I’ll save the story of trying to get to the Bologna airport at 3:30am during the floods that closed all the roads to the airport but not the airport itself for travel group. It’s almost as good as being evacuated from our train in a small Austrian village due to a bomb threat. We had lots of hiccups and mulligans ourselves on this trip but we got some great stories!

ahhh..we missed the floods in the region by about a week. We did get about 4 inches (100 cm) in Siena overnight. As soon as it started raining hard we ducked under some umbrellas in Piazza del Campo. We ordered Aperol Spritz (x2 or 3 or 6) and had appetizers. By that time the thunder & lightning was directly overhead. Less than a second from flash to big boom. After 3 hours out there we made a cannonball run for our B&B 100 yds away. We were soaked.
