The month got away from me. I like to give 2 weeks notice but the 3rd Saturday came early this month. So only 10 days notice

July 15th year of our lord 2023

We'll be attending a Bastille day celebration at a winery the night before so will give you a full report of the looting, smack talking & general hooliganism. Maybe we shouldn't travel to Carlton for this event? Can anybody give me a report on the ground there lately? ;-))

Are you worried about rioting in Carlton a la francais because of Bastille Day, Mark? No worries. Carlton is the wine capitol of Oregon. It’s like the Bordeaux of France. You don’t hear about rioting in Bordeaux do you? Of course not. All that angst and protesting might cause acid reflux, ruining one’s palate for a truly great glass of wine. Leave all that hot head stuff for the people of Paris. Now you might have to worry about those ruffians from Yamhill, the next town over. I hear it’s nothing but a huge enclave of Yellow Vesters there.

Any word from Barb in Iceland? Reykjavik has had 2200 earthquakes in the last couple days and they are worried an eruption is imminent. Man, she’s going to have a great trip report!

We were thinking about Barb the other day. I had not heard about the earthquakes...yikes.

I grew up in McMinnville & traveled through Carlton several times a day in the summers. It has changed "a little". A lot for the better. I could see the giletes jaunes stirring up trouble in Yamhill. I mean Nicholas Kristoff has a farm there & is a known rabble rouser. (NYT columnist) We are going to Resonance wines celebration. They are affiliated w/Louis Jadot wines in France.

Maybe I could use the Metro instead of street travel? Then i have to worry about pickpockets!

I wouldn't worry too much about rioting in Carlton. Any riots would most likely be well away for the tourist areas you are likely to visit, and as you know, that area is just one street through town. :) So, no worries.

By the way I didn't know about the Bastille Day celebration, which winery is that at?

We are members of Resonance wines outside Carlton. Well...we signed up a year ago & they keep sending us invitations so we keep going. One of these days they will ask for more $$$. Maison Louis Jadot head winemaker "retired" (aged out/forced to retire by law) but didn't want to quit making wine so they found some acreage in Dundee, Amity & Carlton to plant/buy vineyards. I'm probably wrong on most of the details but the gist of it is almost accurate
