Portland area travel group July 10th 10:00 am

any interest in getting together again. I enjoyed a few meetings before Covid shutdown. I have stopped in Keizer Panera Bread but have not checked the Tualatin shop. I think there are tables outside? The Keizer shop was a bit of a mess but there were restrictions still in place for dine in. This was March or April. Maybe better now?

any thoughts?

I had a thought once - I think?
I'll send Patricia a PM to see where her interests are - Becky moved to Ohio, so there's an empty chair to fill. Maybe Nancy and Galen are up for this, too - and Robert and Grier and Eric.....geeze - we better rent a stadium.
Nice to hear from you.....

I PM Patricia & she politely invited me to schedule a meeting. This is how you get to be a big wig. You volunteer ;-))

I could use a wig...although my dog would probably eat it.

I’m in SW Portland and am interested in these groups at the Tualatin Panera. Thanks!

Hey Mark,

I went to my first Portland meeting in Feb 2020 before the shutdown. It would be great to get together again. I am in SW Portland, the Tualatin Panera is close by. Let me know when you want to make it happen. Thanks! Scott

I have a friend who just moved to Portland a few days ago and I think that once she settles in she would be interested in attending your meetings. She has attended a Sacramento meeting and a Marin meeting in the past.

Well looks like there is some interest. How about Saturday am July 10th at Panera Bread in Tualatin? Bring your travel stories & questions or we will start comparing our medical issues. I went by Panera Bread today (Sunday). 5 tables outside. 4 were occupied. Inside was about 15%. I will try for an outside table.

Yay!....traveling again

I'm in. Tualatin Panera works well for me, but I'm open to other options.

I won't be able to make July 10th. I will be starting a 12 day photo trip to Alaska that day. Denali to Katmai. First real travel since September 2019.

I will keep my eyes open for future meetings.

Sorry about that Eric. You can bring your pictures to the next meeting. I was once elected President of my HOA when I missed a meeting. We'll make sure you have a Vice President to help you on your return. ;-))

10:00 am is what I was thinking but we can change that time if another time works for most others

I'm the new-to-Portland person Andrea mentioned. I look forward to meeting everyone and talk travel. Sat the 10th at 10:00 in Tualatin works, but able to go elsewhere, too. I'm in SE.

Hello Mark, I will be there. Moved to Ohio, but I am in town for a few weeks. Bringing a friend. Outside tables are a good idea.

AND…in 2017 I leant, to someone In this. group a beautiful book I bought t in Seville about the Real Alcazar. Please look in your stash and bring it along if you find it. I have not read it yet and would like to have it back so I can!!

Thanks for looking!

Also, I am planning a trip to northern Italy, England and the Normandy beaches for the spring of 2022. If you’ve been, I’d like to learn about your experiences.

See you next week!

Welcome Becky

Glad to have you. I hope you can track down your book.

Our family did Normandy in 2017 so I have a few thoughts. I got nothing on England & Italy....although I'd like to hear more

Bon jour, Dia bom, Buon giorno,, dobry dzien, gluten tag.....fellow NW travelers. I managed to make my first travel group meetup right before shutdown. I was delighted with such a wonderful group of people so I’m tickled it’s back on.

I plan on attending along with my BFF. We are piecing together a trip to Central Europe (Poland, Hungary, Czechia and Austria) 3-4 weeks next May. Darling husband might come along to the meet up too but probably will opt for the Saturday morning leisure plan. He and I are getting up the courage to roll dice on an Iceland / France expedition including a self drive canal boat week this September for three weeks. Still biting our fingernails over the situation.

Welcome

I only made a few meetings prior to shutdown but it was helpful & fun! Maybe everyone can update on the trips that didn't happen & the ones that are about to go "live". I'll be there a few minutes early. The Rick Steves book on the table is the giveaway

It was great fun meeting all of you and I learned so much! Thanks.
Wondering if you set up a "regular" day of the month to meet?

Hi Barb
yes it was fun! And 14 persons was way more than I expected. Sorry I had to leave early. I will put up a new post a week prior. Thinking August 7th. same time & place. Planning on inside because although it was nice being outside the traffic noise was a bit bothersome.

Be thinking of topics. Was thinking last night that best & worst (wurst) experiences would be fun.

Mark, any chance of holding the meeting on August 14?

Mark, any chance of holding the meeting on August 14?

I'm good with anything. Portland peeps what say you?

*I would like to settle on a good Saturday of the month. But I have no strong feelings either way

I'm available the 14th, but not the 7th. If I miss August, will see you in September.

I'm also in favor of settling on a specific Saturday of the month. I don't have a strong feeling as to which Saturday should be chosen. I'm free most Saturdays but not August 7.

I don't show up that often, but if I have a vote I would rather it were a set Saturday of the month, rather than arbitrary dates. 2nd Saturday of the month worked well before so I think that would be good. That would make it Aug 14.

If at all possible could it be moved to 10:30 rather than 10:00? One of the main reasons I show up so rarely is that it's hard for me to get there before 10:30. However, I am going to try to get there more often even if it stays at 10:00. I do miss talking travel with similar minded individuals, even if I'm not actively traveling myself right now.

Hello fellow travelers!
We enjoyed our last get together so much and are hoping for Aug 14 as we are camping on Aug 7th. Either way we’ll see you again on down the trail.
