International Virtual Travel Group - SURVEY

I’ve heard from a few attendees that our start time is too early and some say that it’s later than they prefer. Our first meeting was at 9:00 a.m. Pacific time. After that I changed it to 9:30 a.m. Starting later than 9:30 a.m. is not an option. Taking into consideration the 9 hour time difference between here and Europe I am trying to be accommodating. That has prompted me to take this survey. To those who have attended or hope to attend any future meetings, which is your preferred start time? Your only choices are 9:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. Pacific time. I’m looking forward to your responses.

This is a survey, not a meeting announcement. If you would like to attend a meeting you must make that request on the meeting announcement for the month. Meetings are the first Sunday of the month (unless otherwise stated) and the announcement is made 7-10 days before the meeting.

Andrea, since I am on the east coast with a 3 hour time difference, either time is fine. Since you set this up, I default to whichever is best for you, or the majority.

I'm only 8 hours away, and either time goes over my dinner time (5 or 5:30 here) so I'm very easy with either.

My only predictable conflict is with broadcast time of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and that's recorded, so I'm still happy with either.

I'm just glad to be included. Whatever you prefer, Andrea, and whatever the majority choose...

I was interested in attending but Sunday isn't a good day unless it was even earlier. It would have to start at 8 Pacific time.

Hi Andrea,

Either time is good for me.
Thanks for organizing these meetings!

P.S.
Just wondering.... Is it possible to switch the meeting to Saturday morning?

Thanks for the responses.

Allan, many of the people that have attended are on the West Coast and I’ve heard from a couple that the 9:00/9:30 times are earlier than they prefer. Any later is too late for people in Europe and is not an option. On the other hand I know people wouldn’t go for an 8:00 a.m. meeting. I’m sorry the times don’t work for you, as you would be a welcome addition.

Priscilla, I know Sundays aren’t ideal for everyone and I got some pushback from some people when I started this about how Sundays wouldn’t work for them. I have Saturday obligations 3 times a month and I want to keep at least one free for myself.

It’s impossible to make everyone happy and I’m trying my best to be accommodating. I’ve really been enjoying these meetings and I’m happy to know others have as well.

Hi Andrea --
Either 9 or 9:30 on Sunday works well for me.
I'm grateful to have the opportunity to connect with so many nice, interesting, and smart travelers from all over.
Thanks for making this possible for so many of us.

As a west coaster, the later the better so 930 works for me. It sure worked out well last meeting with the time change!

Thank you for organizing this, Andrea! I really appreciate you!

Of those two options, for me the 9:30 am start is much less awful than the 9:00 am start.

Either time slot is fine with me so please do whichever one works for you and the majority. Thanks for organizing these meetings!

Andrea, I would like to get involved in the virtual meetings. Either 9:00 or 9:30 timeslots generally work for me. Whatever you decide for the time, I would like to be included and will send you a PM with my email address.

Regards, Linda

Hi Andrea,

I definitely understand your reasons for keeping the meetings on Sunday, thanks! 😉

Since we used to have to be on the road about 8 a.m. to make it to a 10 a.m. travel group in Sacramento, either 9 or 9:30 is great.

I, also, am a couple of hours later than the West Coast people, so either time works fine for me.

9:30 is way better for me. And even that is a struggle. Thanks Andrea.

Andrea, the 9:30 time last Sunday worked well for me. But, 9 would work too as I will be back in the midwest by the time we meet next. I look forward to attending the next meeting from the frigid area of the country.

I would like to attend but would have to sign in late, like 10 if that is possible. If so, a 9:30 start would be better for me.

It looks like we will keep the 9:30 start time.

For those of you who would like to attend in future months, please read the paragraph at the bottom of the post in bold. Because of limited space the first people who respond have priority. I make a list in order of when I receive each request. No one is automatically invited, except myself of course. Each month some people who requested an invite have been unable to attend, so there’s still a chance that someone further down the list can attend. For anyone who can’t log in at the start time, if there is still space available when you can log in you will be admitted. I explain the process each month when I post the meeting.

I’m so happy to know that so many other people are enjoying these meetings as much as I am. It’s been a pleasure to meet so many people from all over the U.S. and in other countries.

Oh! I didn't realize this was open for any of us. I'll watch for your next notice. As I'm on the east coast, both times work fine!

Wray, I hope you can make the meeting next month.

For anyone who doesn’t understand why I limit attendance I will be happy to explain. Our first meeting had 30+ attendees. Some people never had a chance to talk or participate because there were so many people. Even with 25 people it can still be an issue, but it’s a bit better. I know some people have a lot to say, but we should make an effort to include everyone. I don’t have any plans to change the 25 person limit.

If anyone has ideas for topics I would love to hear them. I keep a list of topics that have been suggested.
