International Travel Meeting (Virtual) - Sun. December 5th @ 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time

It’s time for another International Travel Meeting. Would you like to join us? If you like talking about travel and interacting with others who share the same passion this is the place for you.

There’s a limit to the number of participants. You must reply to this thread to be invited. The first 24 people to respond will have priority to be admitted to the meeting. I can send more invites in case any of the those 24 people don't log in. We have a 5 minute grace period starting at 9:30 a.m. After that any others still in the 'waiting room' can be admitted, up to a total of 24 people. So far this hasn’t been an issue. If someone finds they can’t participate after all, I would appreciate it if you can let me know as soon as you know.

Every meeting there will be a topic or two to discuss. More suggestions are welcome for future months. Of course we will discuss other things as well.

Topics for this month:

  • Places to avoid in the off season
  • Using miles, low cost airlines plus points and lodging to save money

Please let me know in a reply to this post or with a PM if you are interested. If you have participated previously I already have your email address. If you haven’t you will need to send it to me in a PM.

I will be emailing the Zoom link and hour or two before the meeting begins.

Future meetings:
January 9 & February 6

Sign me up!
Let's include not just miles and flights but also points and lodging nights -- I have Hyatt points that are burning a hole in my pocket and need help using them up :-)

I’m looking forward to seeing you all. Sorry you can’t make it Travelmom. I was hoping to hear about all your travels.

@avirosemail, great suggestion to add hotel points to the topic. I never thought of it, because I don’t have hotel points. I’ve edited the post to reflect that. Thanks.

Laura B, I just transferred my Chase points to United for flights in the fall! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Andrea, if all goes as planned, I will be walking the streets of Paris on the 5th…..

I want to attend, if only to hear your train story, Andrea, to end the suspense.

I agree with Chani. I want to hear the full version of your train story, Andrea.

Oh boy, the train story…I can’t remember how much of it I told. :-) Maybe one month a topic could be travel misadventures. Would people be interested in that? I’m not sure anyone could top Chani.

Yes, travel misadventures would be a really good topic for a meeting - even though we know that we can’t top Chani. :-)

Andrea, you only gave us the teaser about jumping off a moving train.

a lifetime ago I jumped on a moving train - Aachen. I'll tell the story sometime, and about the railway police I met up with...

Sorry I can’t attend. We have a holiday brunch with our high school group and with the time difference it makes it impossible to be in 2 places. Sorry I’ll miss your train story and any wedding stories. Oh, and the first topic sounds interesting.

Barbara, I’m sorry you can’t make it. No train stories this month. We have to have something to look forward to next year. 😆

I'd like to join if there are still spots. I was a huge miles junkie for many years, with the odd years of airline status, but that's probably al out of date now. I haven't been on a plane since we arrived in Europe last August and shockingly realized I haven't been on a train since we got here either (darn Covid)

Nelly, you’re now on the list. I’m sure you will make up for lost time traveling once things get better. At least you’re in Italy!

Sorry about the mix up. Multitasking doesn’t always work. It was great seeing everyone.
