International Travel Meeting - Sunday, July 11 @ 9:30am Pacific Time

Who’s ready for another International Travel Meeting? If you enjoy talking about travel and interacting with others that share the same passion, then this is the place for you.

This month marks one year since this group started. Thanks to everyone who has attended and contributed to discussing what we all love - travel!

There is a limit to the number of participants. It has been determined that more than 25 is too many. You must reply to this thread to be invited. The first 24 people to respond will be admitted to the meeting. I can send more invites in case any of the those 24 people don't log in. We will have a 5 minute grace period starting at 9:30 a.m. After that any others still in the 'waiting room' can be admitted, up to a total of 24 people. So far each month anyone who was in the waiting room has been admitted because inevitably some people aren’t able to join in as they had planned. If someone finds they can’t participate after all, I would appreciate it if you can let me know as soon as you know.

Each month there will be a topic or two to discuss. More suggestions are welcome for future months. Of course we will discuss other things as well.

Topic for this month:

How do you determine where and when to go on your trip? Do you prefer new places? Revisit places you’ve been? Checking places off a bucket list? Do you plan around an event? Are age and physical abilities a factor in deciding where to go now vs. where to go in the future?

Please let me know in a reply to this post or with a PM if you are interested. I will then email the Zoom meeting link. If you have participated previously I already have your email address. If you haven’t you will need to send it in a PM.

Future meeting dates -
August 1
August 29 (September 5 is a holiday weekend)
October 3

We would like to be included. We have dates to travel but we are grappling with ALL of the travel questions you are discussing this month!

Andrea, you always have great topics! I’m not able to attend on Sundays anymore, but your topic is timely - currently trying to decide between a 3-week itinerary in Italy or in France this September. The Italy one would be returning to a music festival and attending a new event. And at almost 65, I really don’t want to miss another year of travel while I’m able to move at the faster pace I like.

Jean, I’m so sorry you are no longer able to attend. Italy vs. France...tough call. I don’t think you can go wrong either way. I totally understand your not wanting to miss another year of travel. That’s why we are going on two trips next year, one in the spring and one in the late summer/fall. I’m not getting any younger! ;-)

Just a reminder to those who have not previously attended a meeting - you will need to send me your email address in a private message (PM) so I can email your Zoom link. Barb, I already have yours. Thanks.

bbbdaimond will definitely not be participating in the meeting. Some people...

I always worry about first time posters requesting an invite. One never knows how legit they are, as we can see in this case. Another first timer, Barb, has requested an invite as well. No worry about her. I’ve known her for years.

I will miss seeing you guys this month (I truly love these meetings), but I take off headed to Greece for 2 weeks right as you begin. :)

Travelmom, I’m sure you had a huge internal debate about whether to go to Greece or participate in the travel meeting. Frankly I’m shocked, really shocked, that you would choose to travel instead of staying home to talk about it! Lol! Have a wonderful trip!!

I’ve sent the Zoom link to everyone who has requested it, except the spammer of course. It looks like the webmaster took care of that. If you sent me a request and didn’t get the link, please let me know.

If you find that you won’t be able to attend I would appreciate you letting me know. Thanks.

Sadly we won’t be able to join you this Sunday (family coming) but happily something fell into place with our trip planning for later this summer. We discovered a Vermeer exhibit that will be starting in one of our cities so the trip will be organized to be in that city over some specific date. We were flip flipping until we found this event to design our trip around. So one question happily answered for us.

Thanks for the update, Mona. We will miss you, but I’m looking forward to seeing you next week at our Sacramento meeting. It sounds like your trip is starting to come together.

We still have a few spots left if anyone else is interested in joining us.

If someone has requested to join but has not received the Zoom link, please let me know.

Andrea, something has come up for me and I will not be able to attend the Zoom meeting on Sunday. So, please free up a space for someone else. Thanks and have fun.

Thanks Andrea and everyone else for another interesting meeting. It’s great to hear so many different perspectives on a topic and also it’s always interesting to hear from those who live outside the US.
