International Travel Meeting - Saturday April 3rd @ 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time

Please note that this meeting is on the first Saturday of the month due to Easter falling on Sunday.

Who’s ready for another International Travel Meeting? If you enjoy talking about travel and interacting with others that share the same passion, then this is the place for you.

There will be a limit to the number of participants. It has been determined that more than 25 is too many. You must reply to this thread to be invited. The first 24 people to respond will be admitted to the meeting. I can send more invites in case any of the those 24 people don't log in. We will have a 5 minute grace period starting at 9:30 a.m. After that any others still in the 'waiting room' can be admitted, up to a total of 24 people. So far each month anyone who was in the waiting room has been admitted because inevitably some people aren’t able to join in as they had planned. If someone finds they can’t participate after all, I would appreciate it if you can let me know as soon as you know.

Each month there will be a couple of topics to discuss. More suggestions are welcome for future months. Of course we will discuss other things as well.

Topics for this month -

Travel Apps - What apps have you found that help in planning a trip and for use during your trip?

Modes of transportation - Planes, trains or automobiles? Maybe bus? How do you decide how you will travel between locations?

Please let me know in a reply to this post or with a PM if you are interested. I will then email the Zoom meeting link. If you have participated previously I already have your email address. If you haven’t you will need to send it in a PM.

Enjoyed today's meeting - thanks to Andrea et Jim for bringing us together,
and thanks for the reminder about going to youtube and subscribing to Jo's page
Frankfurt on Foot
to get to see the video clips of good sightseeing in that area.

Yes, definitely subscribe to the Frankfurt on Foot YouTube channel. I've gotten to visit some terrific places that I didn't have time to see while I was in Frankfurt in 2019. It's an easy flight/train hub and I liked spending a day or two there on arrival and before departure. Ms Jo's videos are giving me great ideas of new places I'd like to visit and some I'd like to have her show me around. And as Andrea said, I like the 10-ish minute format that fits my attention span!

Great meeting, everybody -- lots of information about useful travel apps and other tips. Even when/if other groups go back to in-person meetings, I will still be glad to use Zoom to see new travel friends who are geographically distanced. Thanks, Andrea!!

Thanks to everyone for another fun and informative meeting. Next month we will be back to our first Sunday of the month schedule. As we all gain more freedom after being vaccinated and things opening up I’m happy to hear you folks want our virtual meetings to continue. We will stick with the first Sunday schedule unless a holiday or my own schedule forces a different date to be chosen. So far for the rest of this year that will affect June and November (I’m unavailable) and July (4th is Sunday). I’ll do my best to keep the first Sundays free.

See you next month!

Thank you for creating this group Andrea, what a great thing you’ve done for all of us. Even though I can’t participate as often as I would like, I’m glad you’ve made it possible for us, and very glad it will continue after local in-person meetings start again. xx

I'm so glad you started the International meetings - it is a brilliant idea.

Extra bonus points for keeping this going as well as your Sacramento meetings too...

Thanks Susan and Nigel. I quite enjoy all the meetings. Jim does too, even if he has zero interest in planning a trip or anything that goes into it. He’s happy to go wherever I’ve planned. He occasionally mentions wanting to see somewhere specific, and we go wherever that is. Honestly, in the before times, and hopefully in the not too distant future, all I have to do is post about the Sacramento meeting and people show up. I don’t even have to be there. Of course I am unless I’m traveling or have another conflict. The Sacramento group has existed for almost 11 years. The international meetings are a bit more work, but totally worth it. We can keep it up as long as people are interested.

Adding my thanks for this group also. Since no groups meet anywhere near me, it is a real blessing for me. AND I went ahead and downloaded a couple of the apps mentioned at the meeting and will try one of them out for my U.S. trip in June.
