International Travel Group Meeting - Sunday March 7 @ 9:30am Pacific Time

Who’s ready for another International Travel Meeting? If you enjoy talking about travel and interacting with others that share the same passion, then this is the place for you.

There will be a limit to the number of participants. It has been determined that more than 25 is too many. You must reply to this thread to be invited. The first 24 people to respond will be admitted to the meeting. I can send more invites in case any of the those 24 people don't log in. We will have a 10 minute grace period starting at 9:30 a.m. After that any others still in the 'waiting room' can be admitted, up to a total of 24 people. So far each month anyone who was in the waiting room has been admitted because inevitably some people aren’t able to join in as they had planned. If someone finds they can’t participate after all, I would appreciate it if you can let me know as soon as you know.

Each month there will be a couple of topics to discuss. More suggestions are welcome for future months. Of course we will discuss other things as well.

Topics for this month -

  • Travel Apps - What apps have you found that help in planning a trip and for use during your trip?
  • Travel Insurance - Do you get it? What do you choose to cover, and why? If you don’t get it, why not?

Please let me know in a reply to this post or with a PM if you are interested. I will then email the Zoom meeting link. If you have participated previously I already have your email address. If you haven’t you will need to send it in a PM.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NEXT MONTH THE MEETING WILL BE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 3 AT 9:30 a.m. DUE TO OUR NORMAL MEETING DAY FALLING ON EASTER.

We can’t join this time, as we’re already signed up for an international Zoom cooking class on Saturday morning, but I’d be very interested in the travel insurance ideas. Is there any chance you (or anyone) might post a synopsis of the insurance discussion after the meeting’s conclusion, Andrea?

Hope the meeting goes well - maybe you’ll have a full 25 participants

I’m sending the link in the next few days.

Cyn, I’m sorry you can’t join us. If someone would like to volunteer to take notes about the travel insurance discussion and post a synopsis that would be great.

Count me in! Thank you!

Cyn, the meeting is on Sunday in March, not Saturday, in case that matters. The April meeting will be on Saturday.

Please include me - practical considerations are as foreign to me as anything I'd come across in Europe!

If there’s still room, I’d like to join.

As a Canadian, I have little to contribute to the insurance topics as they tend to be country specific; so will leave room for those it will benefit. But I'll keep watching for topics I can contribute to as the months go by.

Yes, please.

If anyone has used (i.e. made a claim on) evacuation insurance I would love to hear about it. Also the travel insurance that comes with premium credit cards.

Once again it took less than 48 hours to fill up. Laurie Beth, you are #1 in the waiting room. I’m still waiting for an email address for someone. If anyone else is interested please let me know. Last month, when I allowed a larger group, 7 people either let me know in advance they wouldn’t be able to attend or just didn’t log in. This has happened every month since we began meeting in July. If people can notify me in advance of the meeting that they won’t be able to make it I would greatly appreciate it.

Just wanted to say that I’ve heard from a couple of people that it’s possible they may not be able to make it. Stuff happens with people. If you are interested in participating, just let me know.

Ladies, I sent you the Zoom link.

This is the status as of right now:

28 people have replied, 1 has cancelled, 1 hasn’t provided me with an email address, 1 has told me they may need to cancel but has not as of now.

On the standby list currently is Shelly, Robin and Heidi, in that order. If/when the situation changes you will move up in that order.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone Sunday!

Hi jody, I sent you the link. If there’s room after the 10 minute wait period I’ll let people from the waiting room into the meeting in the order they signed up.

Beginning next month I will shorten the time to a 5 minute waiting period.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Have a great meeting, everybody. I’m won’t be joining you, but if anyone could/would summarize the pluses and minuses of travel insurance per the discussion, it would be really interesting to get the scoop.

Thank you, Andrea and all, and maybe next time!

Once again we didn’t get around to the topic of travel apps. We will try it again another month.
