International Travel Group Meeting - Sunday August 7 @ 9:30a.m. Pacific Time

It’s time for another International Travel Meeting. If you like talking about travel and interacting with others who share the same passion this is the place for you. Everyone is welcome, no matter where you live.

There’s a limit to the number of participants. You must reply to this thread to be invited. The first 24 people to respond will have priority to be admitted to the meeting. I can send more invites in case any of the those 24 people don't log in. We have a 5 minute grace period starting at 9:30 a.m. After that any others still in the 'waiting room' can be admitted, up to a total of 24 people. So far this hasn’t been an issue. If someone finds they can’t participate after all, I would appreciate it if you can let me know as soon as possible.

Every meeting there will be topics to discuss. Of course we will discuss other things as well.

Topics for this month:

*When you travel do you try to blend in? If yes, how?

*How does food factor in when determining where to travel? Do you intentionally go somewhere because of the food? Do you avoid places because of the food?

Please let me know in a reply to this post or with a PM if you are interested. If you have participated previously I already have your email address. If you haven’t you will need to send it to me in a PM.
I will be emailing the Zoom link an hour or two before the meeting begins.

Please think of some topics for future meetings and share them during the meeting or you can PM me if you prefer.

After this meeting we will be taking a 2 month break because I will be traveling. Upcoming meetings will be:

November 6
December 4
January 8

I think the questions are related -- one way of blending in is to dine the way they do in the places you're visiting.

For instance, nowadays brunch has spread pretty widely but back before that the places in France that served big breakfasts were not catering to Frenchmen!

I look forward to the meeting!

I think I will be able to join you from Edinburgh. But I don’t want to take anyone’s spot if you need the space.

Ohhhh maybe we can join you from London! That would make us officially international. Help me with the math, what time would it be for UK based folk?

Lol, Mona! I struggle with this also! But I think it’s 8 hrs? So 9:30am CA time would be 5:30pm for us?

I attended the East Bay meeting from Stornaway last week and it worked just fine. :) That one was 11:00am CA time and 7pm for me.

I will miss the call this month. I will be traveling 'up north' as they say in MN, but I will miss our sharing. I hope to run into some of you in England in September. PM me if you want my schedule.

We'll be driving, but if my husband takes the wheel, I'll try to listen in if you have room.

Bets, I hope you can make it happen. Your last meeting on this continent. I’ll send the link.

Please add me to the list. I love these meetings! Thank you again Andrea and Dave for organizing them.

Mona....If you have an Iphone, you can see world times by tapping the world clock section of your clock page. It even tells you the hour difference. Right now, my world clock tells me it is 701 pm in London. Above the city title, it has +8HRS. I hope you find that a little helpful.

I'd like to attend but am double booked. I may be able to pop in at one end or the other, but certainly don't count on me, and if you are tight for sure give my spot to another...

Andrea, we have family visiting from Croatia but I think the younger ones will go out Sunday without us. It all depends on if the 2 cousins from NJ come as they said they would. Could you add me to the list, but if you need my spot bump me. As soon as i have some kind of confirmation I will email or DM you. I hope they do go w/out us cause we have been on the go since they arrived on Sunday. Tomorrow is the Statue of Liberty and ellis island which will be a long day. Monday is 911 Memorial, Tuesday is Empire State Building, Wednesday is Bronx zoo………

Hi Andrea,
Please put me on the list if you have space. I will probably do more listening than contributing.

Please add me too, though I may not be able to stay through the end.

We still have space and I know people have things going on, so no problem popping in and out. Anyone else interested? Let me know. See everyone tomorrow at 9:30. I usually start a little early.

yes, thanks for another fun meeting, and for a chance to hear how we're not alone in our food preference peculiarities :-)
