Saturday, Jan. 25 - 1st Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Travel Group Meeting

Hello fellow travelers,

EDIT: We’re getting a good response, so let’s meet!
I saw that other groups have met at a Panera Bread, and that gives everyone the option to order coffee & a pastry or something more substantial.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 10:30am
I will arrive a little early to grab a table. I will display a RS book at the table.

Do you live in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area and are interested in an informal travel group?

I’ve reached out to another forum participant in this area, and she is interested. Hopefully we have some others who would like to meet to discuss travel plans, favorite places, bring their favorite travel packing items, share “what didn’t work well”, or whatever topics are interesting to each other.

I know there is an established Travel Group in Moscow, Idaho, but we’re hoping to create one that’s a much shorter drive - at least during the Fall-early Spring months.

If you’re interested, please reply on this Forum post, or you may send me a private message.

Jean!! Sounds great!

As you know I will be moving to the area when we find a house we like. I suspect it will be by this summer but not sure so will look forward to having friends to talk travel with!

We would be interested! We’re out of town for the first three months of the year, but we’d love to meet up!

I was hoping someone would suggest a travel group for the Spokane area! I would be interested in a travel group for this geographic area, but I know that, due to work and aging parent responsibilities, I would only be able to participate if the group met in the Spokane area.

Excited to hear if this gets off the ground!

Hi Jean

We've already talked but just wanted to say again that I am very interested in joining this group. Glad to see that others are interested also.

I just want to encourage folks to join in. Kim and I started a travel group in Tulsa (even though neither of us actually lives there) a number of years ago, and it has become the high point of my month. Such fun! It's great to spend time with folks whose eyes don't glaze over whenever you talk about your trips.

And we have all learned so much. Our core group is small, but we have a number of folks who drop by occasionally, and we have learned things from all of them.

Good luck starting your group!

Edit to add: I just went back through my posting history, and it looks like Kim and I touched base in September 2015. As I recall, she and I met for lunch a few weeks later, and hit it off immediately. We've met monthly ever since.

Just a couple hours south of you. Great idea though!
Maybe next time we're in the area.

I’m thrilled to have a travel group closer to home! I attend the Moscow meetings, but weather often gets in the way. Spokane is much more convenient for me. Looking forward to meeting you all!

I appreciate that you're having your meetings a different week from the Moscow Group so that some of us can go to both meetings just like the San Francisco and Sacramento Groups sometimes do. I definitely won't be driving up in the snow though. Have a great meeting Spokane Travel Group! I'm looking forward to eventually meeting you all in the summer.

Good luck! You'll have fun, regardless of how many folks show up.

We had a good turnout for our first meeting (6 enthusiastic travelers!) and one person who sent a message that she was unfortunately sick this morning.

We will meet again in two months, Saturday, March 28 at 10:00am at Cracker Barrel, 1675 West Lee Court, Coeur d’Alene. I’ll arrive early to reserve a round table to make hearing conversation easier, and my husband will be able to come in March, too.

Excellent! I was thinking about you all today - was in CdA for the great nephew's first birthday and also looked at a few houses. I'll put the 28th on my calendar in case I am in a position to join you all!

Are you starting an email list? If so I'll PM you my email if you don't mind me joining you!
