Eugene or Portland meet up

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there is a group that meets in either eugene or portland oregon. I would love to hang out with fellow travelers and share stories.

I did see that there was a meeting back march but Im not sure if that is a regular group or not.

I have been watching and, as far as I know, there is no regular meeting at this time.

Jesse, there was a group from Portland/Vancouver that met sporadically but haven't seen anything lately. I would love to get another group started but preferably somewhere between Portland and Eugene so more people could be included. There are many posters on here in the Willamette Valley (Corvallis, Dallas, Salem, southern Portland suburbs, Eugene, Springfield, etc). If you have any ideas for a convenient meeting spot post it on here. I, for one, would be happy to drive a ways once a month to get together with other travelers (I did drive the hour and 1/2 to Portland once and would be willing to drive that far). I think part of the problem with the other group was that they didn't set a regular meeting time and place and, for some reason, that doesn't seem to work. The groups that have worked well and stayed together the longest are the ones that meet regularly at the same place and the same time, usually on Saturday morning or early afternoon, and usually the 2nd Sat of the month or 3rd Sat of the month, etc. People show up or don't as they wish, nobody expects you to RSVP whether or not you're coming. I hope we can give it a try again.

We're leaving for Greece next week, but would love to have a regular group meeting to go to when we're home.

Sounds like there are a few poeple that would be willing to have a regular meeting. Any ideas on where we could meet?

Looks like other groups meet in coffee shops or someplace similar for the wifi and to keep it affordable.

Im down in eugene but Im willing to make the drive up to Salem or Portland if we had a good group! As far as time goes it sounds like Saturday would be the best time, maybe around midday for poeple that are from out of town.

Salem seems like a somewhat central meeting point. There is a Panera Bread at Keizer Station a couple of miles north of Salem on I5. There are likely others in Salem but this one is right on I5 so convenient for those traveling from Eugene or Portland. Should we try it for October? Anybody have preferences on which Saturday and what time?

Panera in salem works for us. Our weekend schedule is pretty open in october. I know that this time of year football is a big passion for people and it looks like the 17th both the ducks and beavers have away games.

How would the 17th work for poeple?

Duck home games are 11/7 vs Cal, 11/21 vs USC and civil war on 11/27 (Go Beavers!).

Beavers 11/7 vs UCLA, 11/21 vs UW and we already covered the civil war.

11/14 seems the logical date, yes? Nancy in Corvallis suggested Panera in Keizer. Sounds OK to me. But I'd throw out the idea of Santiam Brewing in Salem that makes cask ale and has a tasting room (and food can be ordered in from outside vendor). I've not been there, so it's a 2 birds with one stone thing. I've never been to Panera either, so it's a learning experience either way.

We'll be out of the country, but we'd certainly be interested in future gatherings. Either Salem or Kaiser works for us.

My wife and I can do the 14th and Panera or that brewery sounds great to me.

We are free that whole day so anytime would work for us. Maybe the afternoon would be better for the brewery😉

This Salemite would love to join the discussion, but alas I'm out of town most weekends in November. The Keizer Panera is an easy-access location for those coming from the north or south. I personally haven't been to Santiam brewery location, but it is pretty easy to find. Another option is the Gilgamesh Brewery (on Madrona near the airport - easy access from I-5). Hope to join you all for a future get-together.

Hi again,

My son surprised us with an ultimate frisbee tournament in Portland on Saturday that he may or may not need transportation to. I kinda proposed Saturday and someone kinda proposed Panera in Keizer. I'd propose that if a few people can be there, they should commit. If it turns out we're free, we'll show up at whatever time it's happening. I think Ray from up north was possibly available. Jesse was possibly available.

Unfortunately it turns out that November is not a good month for me either and I won't be able to come on the 14th. Hopefully we can try for December, maybe on Saturday the 12th? I hope some of you are able to show up this Saturday because it would be nice to get this group started and then maybe it will grow as people are able to show up.

Hi Everyone,

First of all, I love Ultimate Frisbee!!

We wont be able to make it this weekend(11/14) either. I've been slammed at work and plan on using the weekend to do a little catching up. Luckily December is a pretty slow month for me so we'll be able to figure out a time that works.

We will eventually have this meet up though! I look forward to chatting with fellow travelers and sharing/receiving advice for future trips.

We could meet on Saturday, January 23. As mentioned previously, the Panera at Keizer Station is right off I-5 and kinda midway between Eugene and Portland. We'll wait and see if there are other respondents and what the final decision is.

I can make it on the 23rd. Late morning is best (10 or 11) but afternoon could work too if that's what people prefer. Panera in Keizer works for me too. Let's see if we can get a group together this time.
