Hi, I did a Google search, and it looks like a group met in the DC metro area back in 2013. Are you still having meetings? If not, any interest in a coffee meeting if I get something going in Northern VA or the District?

Rachel, thanks for posting this. I would be interested in a group meeting too. I recently retired and had been thinking about trying to organize something - but have been doing too much traveling to try to get a group going in this area, or even find out if there's one already meeting!

Okay! Sounds like enough interest for a gathering. My preference would be to do something in August. Am thinking a Saturday afternoon or later morning/afternoon on a Sunday. Grab a coffee and a dessert type-of-thing. if that sounds good, we can set a date, time & place.

Does anyone have transit requirements? Would love to do this at the Swiss Bakery at Braddock and Beltway (Ravensworth) as they have plenty of tables and people can order whatever they want, but if we need to move closer to Metro, will do.
Thanks! Would Saturday August 1st at 3pm work? Alternate date Aug 8th?

August 1st or 8th works for me (after that I'll be doing a lot of traveling). The bakery you named is fine for me too (looks awesome!), if that works best for everyone. I like trying new places. Just PM me once you have decided since I don't always check this website.
I don't know where everyone lives but I'll throw out some alternate places just in case the Swiss bakery doesn't work out:

If the District, I would suggest Teaism in Penn Quarter (right off the Yellow and Green lines - Archives stop, also walking distance from Chinatown). Great place to get together.

Hi Rachel, I was going to add that it may be a good idea to PM the folks from a few years ago that expressed interest (I think Brad from Gainesville?). I honestly would not have found this thread if not for random luck. I just reached out to someone from a former meeting and sent him this thread link. There were only 3 of us a few years ago, which isn't a great turnout (but fine by me, so be it). Once, Andrea and her husband from Sacramento joined us while in town one weekend.

Thanks, Agnes. I'm going to go ahead and set a date/location so I can get this on the calendar. If folks can't make it this go-around perhaps someone else can organize a future meeting at a different location. I'll also try to contact a few people who post & live in the DC area.
