Coeur d'Alene/Spokane Travel Group Saturday June 4

Greetings and an invitation to all who are in the area to join us on Saturday June 4 to drink coffee, eat macarons and talk travel!

We'll meet at 10 at our regular location:

Regular meeting spot - Woops French Bakery, 119 N 4th St, Coeur d'Alene at 10:00am

So far I think it's only Leslie and me? Jean will be trying to stay cool by eating gelato in Italy, lol, others are traveling as well. What about you? Let me know!

Thanks for posting this, Pam! If it happens to be just Leslie & you, you can feel like you’re in a Parisian macaron shop deciding what to do for your day. : )

My biggest decision on Saturday will hopefully be what time of the day I go to Gioelia Emilia Cremeria in Cremona, and whether I order a gelato, their cannoli, or a crepe topped with fruit! Their shop looks very clean so a good spot for this trip! There’s also one in Parma, so I don’t have to try everything at one location - LOL!

Leslie...I will be ready to give you my opinion on any and all things Paris! But you already knew that, lol.

Jean...that sounds like a heckuva set of choices, lol!! I suggest all 3 over your time frame! And I'm happy to sub in for you post-wise and host-wise! lol....

Pam, not sure if I/we will be able to make it, but I’ll know more by Friday….don’t want you to save unneeded chairs!
Jean…..so jealous already! If you ever, ever, ever see a gelato called “profumi di Sicilia”, you absolutely need to try it!

Ohhh…what flavor is that Cathy?

I’ll head for the big table and if it’s just Leslie and me we can move to a smaller one, but thanks! All OK eye-wise?

Cathy, I had to google that and it sounds delicious. Pistachio, ricotta and orange.

Hello I am flying into Spokane on Wednesday June 15 and coming to your lakeside town for 2 or 1 nights (tbd) before we drive into Montana. What are the three or four sites, or easy/moderate hikes we should focus on? And where should we buy our bear spray?

While I’m a big advocate for bear spray and carry it when I go to Yellowstone, I don’t carry it around CdA. There are local places to buy it if you are headed over the mountains to Glacier NP, Yellowstone or Grand Tetons. The place I last bought mine is North 40 which is north on Government Way to Margaret Av ( just turn like you are going to enter the 76 gas station).

One of the prettiest and easiest hikes is Tubbs Hill, right in town. You start at McEwan Park. You can also do easy walks along the lakeshore. If you want to add some hill, go to the end of East Coeur d’Alene Lake Dr to Higgins Point and walk up there. The I90 road noise is annoying, though!

Another easy trail just north of town is English Point National Recreation Trail. There are a number of loops on either side of the road ranging from just under a mile to 3 miles or so.

Just out of town and more uphill is Mineral Ridge trail east of town off I90 at the Wolf Lodge Bay exit and south on ID 97.

Hope you enjoy the area!

Jean, I am salivating reading about your dessert choices. I second Pam's suggestion - go for all three during your stay.

I think I should be able to make this meeting on Saturday. I finally don't have a conflict, although I will be sans hubby, as he does. Looking forward to hearing any travel stories I have missed!

Collinsdtc, I second Tubbs Hill. Such a pretty hike with endless views of the lake!
