Coeur d'Alene/Spokane Travel Group - Oct. 7

It’s definitely beginning to feel like Fall in our area! Fall means Woops Bakery will have their glass walls closed, and it’s time to seriously be planning our 2024 vacations. : )

Leslie may be back from Europe to share her September RS South Italy tour - yeah! If you live in the area or are visiting for the day, welcome! We will meet at our usual spot at 10am - Woops! French Bakery, 119 N 4th St, in downtown Coeur d'Alene.

We rarely run out of conversation, but I thought this one from Andrea’s group would be fun to discuss:

  • “What are your favorite ways to meet people while traveling?”

Yea, Jean! I'll be there!

Will you guys kick me out if I say sometimes I want to avoid meeting people, lol....(NOT RS forum folks though!!)

Leslie, that’s the best excuse - busy traveling! Have some Mr. 100 Tiramisu for me! : )

Pam, I’ve heard you’re even willing to crawl into primitive igloos of dirt to avoid needing to talk to people! LOL!

Hahha!!! Yes, Jean, that was partially true but I was with a gang of my peeps so all was good!!

Leslie!! Enjoy Rome! Watching the Ryder Cup and see it's near Rome!

Jean,

Yes that is interesting about the owner of the Bakery being from Chester!!

Stuart, the owner is such fun. I sometimes wish the bakery weren't so busy on Saturday mornings so she could chat with us. She also honeymooned in Harrogate and was delighted when I told her last spring I was going to spend several nights there. When I got back I gave her an update on tea at Betty's, lol.

Isn31c, I brought my large visual paper calendar into the bakery a year ago that has a Post-It for each day to show the group how I initially plan and can easily move days around. She wanted to see it, and when she saw “Chester” as two of the days, she was very excited!

It’s funny that in our pretty little area we have a French bakery, can hear an English accent, and have an authentic gelato shop - all within a few blocks downtown!

@ Pam - I'm glad to know I'm not the only one for whom meeting people is at the bottom of the list! I would love to meet your travel group members in person, however!

Janet if you ever need to come up to the Pacific Time Zone for anything try to work it so you can be here on a 1st Saturday! You’d be very welcome!

So true Jean! And it's not like CdA is particularly cosmopolitan, lol.

Grrrr on the Ryder Cup. It has taken over Rome, but we just got to Vieste minus one couple 😞

Leslie, and the Ryder Cup was such a disappointment for the US team this year! It’s sad when there’s not a close competition to make the weekend an exciting event.

And congratulations to our European forum contributors who enjoyed watching the Ryder Cup!

Leslie, wow, that’s early in the trip to lose a couple - Covid? If so, I hope everyone else is able to finish the trip!

Leslie! Stay well! (Assuming Covid as well for the one couple down....)

Jean, I know what you mean about having plenty to talk about. Our in person meetings don’t have topics and we never run out of things to say to each other. We don’t have an end time to our meetings and they run a very long time. People can come and go as they like, and the longest meeting I recall lasted until 6:00 p.m. for about 5 of us. That’s 8 hours! I have topics for the International zooms because otherwise we would all be talking over each other. Lol!

Andrea, we are under a time limit due to the fact that parking is only 2 hours on the nearby streets!

Leslie! Yikes! Stay healthy….we lost 9 or 10 of the original 27 on our tour (John was #8, then of course I followed as #9😡😡). Definitely something in the air……
See all of you in November!

Cathy, I was so sad for you when I heard you had to leave the tour you had both been anticipating for so long! I hope you at least had a few enjoyable days pre-tour and the initial tour days!

Pam, that’s one of the reasons we meet at Panera. We can park as long as we want and since there isn’t any waitstaff who are dependent on turning table over for tips we can stay as long as we like. We usually have the large table and then have to add 2-3 more to accommodate the group.

Oh, Cathy I'm so sorry you got sick. I'm hoping the mom stone made it to where it was supposed to be.
And yes, the couple had to leave because of Covid. We had talked to them the night before and there was no indication they were sick. So far everyone else seems in good shape. We are off to visit Alberobello tomorrow.
Going back to fhe beginning, I did make my short connection at CDG in exactly one hour. It was total chaos at immigration and a lot of yelling going on. NO fun.

Oh my word! I know you were thrilled just to get in your seat on the plan and catch your breath!

@Andrea, did your group win an award for having breakfast, lunch & dinner at Panera Bread - all in one day? : )

Just catching up with this post but have Saturday on my calendar. Coming with a few questions on Florence and maybe the French Riviera. Will explain Saturday :)

Those are both places I love, Judy! Looking forward to hearing your plans!

See you Saturday!

Doing a bump on this one.

Do we still need the larger table this month? Since we have people traveling, we may have a smaller group this month. And what a gorgeous sunny weekend to enjoy McEuen Park & the lake afterwards!
