Hi, I originally posted this on "To the West" but thought posting on it on "Transportation" would be better. I'm looking to help my niece's here. They want to visit Munich for 2 days (1 overnight), departing from and returning to Zurich in late March. Curious how long the trip is and approx. cost. During their week stay in Switzerland, they'll be using an 8 day Swiss Pass (2nd class youth pass) for transportation. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any suggestions for reasonable accomodations in close proximity to the Munich train station? Paul
And I will copy and paste the same answer I posted on the other one, so others don't spend time duplicating my effort in looking these things up: If they are going March 23 or later, they are in luck, as that is when the direct Zurich---Munich train starts running. EC 193 departs Zurich at 9:16 am and arrives in Munich 4 h 12m later. There is a return train the following day at 16:33 and maybe one later, but I did not check. There are other trains they can tack with a change on the way. Cost with a Swiss Pass is 47 CHF each way in 2d class. They can use the Swiss rail website rail.ch or SBB.ch to see all of this and explore their options.
Thanks Lola. Excellent info. Sorry about the double posting. I'll delete the other one and leave this one.
