Looking to book rail tix from Zurich to Como online before leaving US on September 25. (Will book other Italy legs when in Italy.) It appears from Swiss Rail website I have only two choices getting tix: 1) pick up tix at Zurich train station or 2) have tix mailed to me. If they are mailed, will I receive them in time? Did I miss something: can I print tix from the website?

You did not miss anything; those tickets into Italy are either mailed or picked up at the station. No print at home option, at least the last time I checked. But it is very easy to pick them up at the station. Mailing is very expensive, so I would advise against that.

Yes, my situation is identical. I purchased tickets a month ago for trip from Geneva to Milan traveling in September. After purchase, I printed out a document with an 8 digit order number and also received an email confirmation from SBB with the order number. Email states "You can collect the items ordered at any staffed SBB station in Switzerland by quoting the order number issued --------."

We did this a few weeks ago. Very easy to pickup the tickets at the station in Zurich.
