I am staying one night in Zurcih and flying out the next day. I really need a hotel near the train station, just a few minutes walking distance. Suggestions? If none, perhaps a nice hotel in the city center that is affordable, and I'll just take a cab.

Try the Hotel St Josef near to the train station. Someone else mentioned the EasyHotel - nothing in Switzerland is cheap.

I don't know how old you are (I'm 20), but I stayed in the Hotel Biber youth hostel which was walking distance from the train station. Nothing fancy, but a good cheap stay.
