Yet Another Global Entry Post

I got an email a while back notifying me my Global Entry was set to expire next summer. Included was a notice that due to the high volume of applications and backlog, they were allowing an additional grace period while a renewal application was being processed.

So I started an renewal application on line, but then had to verify some employment details (there was a company acquisition, some transferred but not retained HR records), etc., etc., etc. i even sent in a query to their help email and got back a reply in just a few days, saying I should put in the same phone number for both the acquired and acquiring companies, and I would be able to address that in my interview.

Then on the 26th (evening) I got and email from the Trusted Traveller Program telling me that I had until the 26th to complete my application of it would time out and get flushed. So I submitted it with my best contact info for the companies in question.

Today I got an email saying I had a status change. I logged in to find a message saying "Congratulations! You've been approved!"

I think I just got rubber-stamped.

When I renewed Global Entry a few years ago, I submitted the application and then got a congratulatory e-mail without further effort on my part, too. I guess the government considers us low risk?

Same here when I renewed in October. They sent me a new Global Entry card with updated expiration date about a month later.

I received an email a couple of days ago saying to be aware of the backlog and that my current validity has been extended one year.

The main thing they are interested in, is your criminal record. They've already investigated you once, including your employment, so yeah, you're less of a risk. They really dont have the people or resources to do a deep dive into it. I got my renewal approval within a day or two.

I suspect where you have traveled also plays a role in how deeply Homeland Security dives into your re-application.

My renewal also took less than a week back in Sept. I originally got Global Entry back in 2012, so this was my second renewal. I thought they’d probably require a new interview since it had been 10 years since I’d had one. Nope. Got the card with my 2012 photo a few weeks later.

I renewed my Global Entry last year. I applied in December 2021, and the first appointment was available in July 2022. When I showed up for the interview, they took a new photo and approved the application. I was in and out in a couple of minutes.

I am new to Global. Entry and will be going to Europe come October.

I know that Global Entry includes TSA Pre but how else does it help me. I will be flying to London but returning home from Lisbon.

Does it make it easier to go through immigration when my planes lands either in Boston or Philadelphia before I transfer to another plane to Austin? Do I have a special line that I can go through such as with TSA Pre?

Does Global Entry help me at all when I land in London? Or leave from Lisbon?

Will it help at all when I get off my cruise ship in Lisbon? I am spending four nights in Lisbon post cruise. Do I have to go through security / immigration?

Yes. There should be directions for Global Entry. Returning via ORD last September I just walked up to the kiosk, positioned my mug in the lines on the screen and hit the 'take picture' button on the screen. They've upgraded the kiosks most places to do facial recognition now.

Probably not.

I have no experience but again probably not. GE mainly gets you whisked through immigration at point of entry to the US.
