Wizz Air

I flew Wizz Air from Budapest to Eindhoven and was very pleased, but this was several years ago. I had a river cruise that ended in Budapest.

I fly them regularly and they are absolutely fine. Like any low cost carrier when booking you need to be careful about selecting the right baggage allowance etc. They will try to upsell you every step of the way so just be alert.

I prefer Wizzair to Ryanair.

If you were willing to fly Ryan (I do), then Wizz Air won’t be much different. I’ve flown them in the past - they are budget but reliable.

I the last 12 months or so I have flown them from Valencia to Budapest, from Budapest to Montenegro and back (twice), from Budapest to Zadar and back, from Budapest to and from Rome and in about 6 weeks I have a reservation from Budapest to and from Montenegro. Yea, they are "okay". Heck, they are darn near perfect for getting from Point A to Point B. Efficient and generally very close to being on time. Not the worst seats either, but really doesnt matter on a 1 to 2 hour flight.

Great to be reading the positive experience factors re: Wizz Air. Flying them for the first time next year, Catania to Venice, and they were the only non-stop option found between those airports (other airlines seemed to require a connection in Rome for that route).

But do keep in mind that its a bus with wings.

Boarding is orderly and the priority boarding does improve the experience. Pay attention cause the cheap ticket only permits a personal item sized bag. I have never seen them check the size or weigh a carryon item so on size and weight they are no more fussy than any airline. But, if you didn't pay to bring a full size carry on, they will stop you.

No meal service or free water or free anything, but they do sell it on board ... most of their flights are under 2 hours so ...

I last flew them in 2014 from Frankfurt (Hahn) to Budapest. I remember being moved into the boarding area once our tickets were scanned. There was no jetway, but at the appointed time, two sets of doors opened and everyone ran out onto the tarmac and up the forward or aft stairways. Your choice! It was a free-for-all seating; none were assigned. What a crazy mess! I hope things have changed!

No open seating. All are assigned seats. No running across tarmac (you walk), first 20-something seats board the front door, last 20-something seats board the back door.
