Will 1 hour 10 minutes connection in Amsterdam to Dubrovnik be enough to change planes?

We are leaving Seattle to Dubrovnik in Sept. There is only 1 hr, 10 min layover in Amsterdam. Is this enough time?
We missed a connection in Paris last trip from Seattle to Paris to Athens with only 50 minutes for the connection.

Delta airlines (not sure if that's who you are flying) does a lot of 50-70 minute connecting times in Amsterdam. I've done this about 5 times, and always made it. It's tight, but Delta is responsible for rebooking you if this is all on one ticket. There are many, many posts discussing this connection. You might do a search for more opinions.

I'm starting to worry about my short connection in Munich. Only because I've been reading about the new entry system that has started as of November 24 this year. The first time we (as Americans) enter the EU zone, we will be using their new digital system. Articles I've read say that they will scan our face (I've already had that done many times in the EU with my biometric passport) but it also says that we'll be giving digital fingerprints to the system too. Once it's done, it's all set up. But I'm wondering how much time this first entry will take.

AMS is a much easier airport to transition than CDG.

Barbara are you referencing EES? I didn't think that was in effect yet and the date is TBD.

The true answer, like answers to many of life's questions, is "Maybe - it depends."

If all goes well (inbound flights are on time or early, you move quickly through the airport, no long lines, etc.) then yep, you'll make it. If all does not go well, you might miss it.

Presumably your itinerary is all on one ticket, yes? (if not, all bets are off).

Ask yourself the perennial flight-booking questions...

  • How bad would it be if you missed you onward flight?
  • What would be the consequences of that?
  • How comfortable are you with the risk?
  • What are your other options?

Two thoughts from someone who avoids tight connections:
1) Many times, Delta will make a schedule change and, when they do, you have the chance to adjust your flights. I am able to do this pretty often. I’ll add a day to the trip or adjust from one flight to another.

2) Have you called Delta to ask for a different connection time? I’m guessing you picked the Delta fare with the cheapest price and ended up with that connection? I fly Delta a lot and am aware at the wide pricing variations on the various itineraries. The Delta phone reps are my favorite - I really feel like they listen and try to help. Perhaps they’ll put you on a longer layover.

I'm starting to worry about my short connection in Munich

I was just through MUC - connecting from LAX to a flight to Budapest, with a scheduled 75-minute layover. The flight from LA arrived on time, and I easily made my connection - no evidence of any digital scanning - the immigration check was conducted with an agent. I arrived at the Terminal 2 Satellite and had to take the train to Terminal 2 for the departure to BUD.

On the way back, it was the reverse - arrived from Vienna at Terminal 2 and took the train to T2 Satellite, where we went through the Schengen exit check. The surprise was that Lufthansa set up a documentation check prior to entering the departure area for flights to the States - there were four or five flights departing, each had a separate line, and only one agent handling economy passengers for each flight. I was on the A380 flight to LAX, so of course my line was the longest. This was a very low-tech check. Of course, since these were all Lufthansa departures, and LH's document check, the flights weren't going to leave until everyone was checked in. I had a 90-minute connection time for this one. The flight left late, but had more to do with a cargo or baggage issue than with the checkin - so we were told.

Supposedly the minimum connection time at MUC is 30 minutes if you're connecting within T2 or the T2 Satellite, and 40 mins if going between the two. The train runs every few minutes and only takes a minute or two to travel between terminals.

My checked bag made the connection both times.

Thanks, Lynn. New article does say that EES did not start on November 10 and the start is indefinite now. Phew for all of us with a short connection.
