Which train goes from Paris to Toulouse?

I am traveling to France for the first time and I'm a bit confused by the train system. Which train would I take to get to Toulouse from the Paris Charles de Gaule airport?

For complete timetables go to www.bahn.de and click on the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner for English. Enter Aeroport Paris-Charles de Gaulle TGV as your departure station and Toulouse-Matabiau as your arrival station. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points.

You'll find that there is a direct TGV departing at 07:25. The 09:25 departure has a connection at Montpellier Saint-Roch. The 11:42 departure has connections at Valence and Montpellier Saint-Roch. The 12:58 departure has a connection at Montpellier Saint-Roch. There is a direct TGV departing at 13:37. The 13:54 departure has a connection at Lyon Part Dieu.

You can also go into Paris and depart from either Gare Montparnasse or Gare de Lyon.

I would recommend strongly that you take the train from downtown Paris. The trains are faster and substantially cheaper. CDG-Toulouse averages from 53-97E and takes 6.5-7.5+ hours, depending on how early you buy the tickets. Paris-Toulouse starts at just 22E because of PREMs, and takes about 5 hours and 15 minutes. You must purchase tickets 90 days or so in advance to snag that price, though.

Another tip- Before choosing a route, check the train type. Avoid anything that says "Corail" or "ter." These are slow trains, best enjoyed during short, local trips...NOT cross-county journeys like yours.
