My wife and I will be flying into Zurich and spending one week in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Using Murren as our base, we want to spend most of our time visiting the villages in this area and doing some hiking. WE also want to visit either the Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch. We would appreciate any information and recommendations for the best Pass to purchase. Thank you.
Rick Steves lists what each Swiss pass covers here.
A Swiss Pass or Flex Pass is expensive for travel between villages in one area, and only gives you 50% off the lifts and 25% off the Jungfrau trip above Wengen. I think you are better off with a "card" which gives you 50%off everything, including the Jungfraujoch. A Half Fare card costs 110 CHF. A Swiss Card, which you can buy on this website for $200, fully covers you first and last day of travel (Zurich airport to Muerren, and Murren back to Zurich or to the Swiss border), and gives you 50% off everything else. That may be your best option.
"...only gives you 50% off the lifts" what do you mean by lifts, Lola?
