Can anyone provide adivce regarding the appropriate rail pass that will encompass the TGV, the TER Med., and the train from Florence to Paris? Thank you

No pass will. Not completely, anyway. Lots and lots and lots of prior discussions about passes versus point to point tickets, have a scroll around and a read, please. Every TGV will require purchase of a mandatory reservation - sometimes rare for pass holders - before travel. This is not covered by the pass. There are also mandatory fees for night trains (is that what you referred to?) and fast Italian trains. When you buy P2P tickets all those charges are included in the price you pay. Often you can get really inexpensive fares if you can plan ahead and buy advance purchase, nonrefundable, non changeable tickets.
