I want to go to Zagreb, Croatia and Essen, Germany end of February or early March on the same trip...not as a tourist, but to see friends. Have never been to Croatia and haven't been to Europe in many years...and have never flown there from the States, where I am now retired and living on a small income. I would fly from Orlando or from Miami. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the input...I appreciate it. I shall continue with my homework...the reason I asked was because my head was already spinning from too much online research. lol
There is no magic. You have to do you own homework. Get on the Internet and start and plugging in dates and airports. There is no airport or route is that is always cheaper or better. It is a combination of timing, scheduling, and convenience.
Susan, If it doesn't matter as to which place you want see first, Zagreb or Essen, I would suggest flying into Düsseldorf, if possible. See if any ainline from Orlando or Miami goes to Düsseldorf. From Düsseldorf Hbf. you can get to Essen Hbf. on the S-Bahn (subway) Another option is flying into Munich, then either take a connecting flight to Zegreb, or stay a few days (Munich is always worth another visit), then take the train to Zagreb. Depending on how much time you have, you might want to consider Zagreb to Köln Hbf., transfering to Essen.
