Myself and 3 other people will be in Italy for 2 weeks in June. We are flying out of Zurich and want to take a train from Milan to Zurich, but want to get off and spend 1 night in a city in Switzerland. Does anyone have any suggestions about which train to take? what city we should stay in? And what to see while we are there. Thanks!

Spend your extra time in downtown Zurich. Plenty to see and do.

Lucerne is only about 1 hour train from Zurich Airport. Theoretically you "could" stay the night in Lucerne town center which is very nice...maybe a bit nicer than Zurich. But since you are flying out the next morning you won't get to see a lot of either city. If you choose to stay in Zurich at least stay near the Main Train Station and not at the airport. The train runs directly from Main Train Station to the airport.
