I'm trying to get tickets for the overnight train from Budapest to Krakow in Dec.
They show me the train on many sights, but can't buy them. I thought I would be able to get them on Rick Steves site, but doesn't look like it. I get them on Polrail.com, but seems like a big mark up (~$140/person). It looks like I can on https://czech-transport.com/ too, but it is so much cheaper (~$113/person) and I'm not finding any recent reviews to make is seem OK. Has anyone used them or some other site. Do we need to book ahead to get the 2 person sleeper?
Thanks for any advise here.
As always the Man in Seat 61 is a good source of information: https://www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Budapest.htm#Budapest-Krakow Buy the tickets from MAV if possible. And yes, book ahead.
MAV does not sell tickets for that train on-line. (It is not even shown in their planner).
The only way to book this train is at a train station...
An alternative would be to travel via Vienna and book on www.oebb.at
