My husband and I are travelling from Vienna to Prague at the end of September. Would it be better to purchase our train tickets here or would it be alright to buy them at at the train station when we get there? We will be leaving for Prague on the same day we fly into Vienna. Thanks in advance!
If you book well in advance with Austrian Rail, you can get cheap Spar-Schiene tickets. While the Web site timetables are viewable in English, booking online is only in German. However, you could phone their call center. The phone number, plus information on which Vienna-Prague (Wien-Praha) trains to take, are here: http://tinyurl.com/2ego2s.
I bought Vienna to Budapest tickets by calling the phone line, and it couldn't have been easier. I recommend doing that; you'll get a good price, and it will be one less thing to worry about. Be sure to ask about the Spar Schiene tickets.
