I am going to paris October 23 till Nov 5, I can get a flight now for $808.00. Should I wait and see if I can get it cheaper? Its been higher and its been lower so far.
That depends on how much mental anguish you're willing to put up with, and how often you check the fare. There are multiple factors that make their way into the way an airline prices a particular route. Fuel prices are one, demand is another. Competition is a third. Prices shouldn't go up too much until you get inside 21 days before departure - these days, however, nothing is set in stone. You've seen the fare higher. The question to ask yourself is can you afford the higher fare if it goes up and stays there. If you can, and you can watch the fare daily, it may pay to wait until you hit the 30 day window to see if you can catch a deal. If youre uncomfortable with the higher fare, it might pay to book now to keep what you have. Depending on the airline, you may be able to put a courtesy hold on the fare for 24 hrs while you decide.
Where are you flying into? Is it a direct flight? How many direct flights are there per day - or how many choices that offer the same travel time as this option? These are variables that matter. I like to shop and watch rates awhile before I buy, but I also like to buy before all the seats on the convenient routes are gone. I really don't want to end up paying more for a flight with more connections. The more good itinerary choices you have to choose from, the longer you can wait before you need to commit. Meanwhile, try different departure airports, arrival airports, days of week, times of day etc. to make sure you're getting the best possible price. I also sign up for alerts with different search engines to monitor prices.
Flying out of Chicago into Paris, I have to have exact dates because of work, and the time we fly out of chicago has to be late also because of work. Origanally we were going to fly into London, everyone said it was cheaper, but Ive been checking a couple of months on prices and its cheaper to fly into Paris. You never know.I know the gas prices have been going down and you never no when they will rebound back up. Could be to night!
I would sign up for $808 airfare. I've been tracking Tampa to London airfare since January. Originally, flights were approx $1000. But they have come down only $40 in the past 2 months. It's driving me crazy because I want to start planning the trip.......but I am having a hard time justifying $959 airfare for winter travel (I want to leave nov 16). I have never paid over $870 for winter airfare and don't want to start now. But the cost of fuel and decrease in flights to fill up seats are driving up the prices. Many on this message board have told me to be patient........winter sales will probably occur late summer. Maybe wait a month if u can.....but if u can be pleased with $808, buy it and start your planning, and try not to look back.
