We're planning a trip to visit Christmas Markets and are starting to search for airline flights. My question is: Are we better off waiting until about 3-4 months before? Do airlines have "winter rates"?
Just not sure if we should book now or hold out for something better.

IMO, wait until Sept.
They do but TG through New Years tends to be a min peak time so fare will run higher. If you are happy with the price, book it now. Our recent experience is that fares will fluctuate a bit but in the end will always to be higher. There is no magic window three or four months out. Ask Bob to put some money on the table and see if he would have the same opinion. It is easy to say wait when you don't have any skin in the game.

I book as early as i can and as soon as i nail down where im going/staying. buying international airline tickets is a game you cant win.
