and i will not have a car and don't speak italian... i have a week. and i need to start and end in florence and want to just park somewhere out of the city in between. i prefer woods to culture and the sea to culture and i guess i am a nature girl at heart but it sounds like elba island will be harder to get to and harder to get around in. is that true? advise me please!!!

It is not particularly difficult to reach any of both locations. Sestri Levante has a train station and Piombino (the embarkation point for Elba) as well. Lacking a car makes it harder to explore the island, though.

Is one a much longer trip? Which part of elba iland does the fery land in?

Take the ferry from Piombino to Elba. I belive the ferry line is called Moby.
