Will be leaving from Avignon TGV station and will be returning car at station-
how long does it take to return car and get train ticket from machine-I already have train reservation.

Well, I'd want a couple of hours in case of any hold-up at the car rental office (lunch break, difficult customer ahead of you, or whatever), plus time to obtain your ticket for the TGV.

It's impossible to say. It could take 10 minutes (most likely) or an hour. Do double check the hours of the rental car return--sometimes they close for lunch.
