What kind of car does Rick drive

I am in the market for a new car but the recommendations from my friends are all over the place and not much help. I own a Prius Prime hybrid electric (2017) I have been on 15 RS trips and have come yo trust his judgment on many issues. Does anyone have any idea what kind of car he drives?

I remember watching the infamous M6 video of Rick driving dangerously and unlawfully. He stated the model of the hire car as "Airbag". Mmm not sure Rick's your boy when it comes to anything involving cars.

The moth is flying a little too close to the flame.
I admire Mr. Rick, too...but let's keep our admiration under check.
His car? As I recall, it's an older Camry with moss growing on the sides.
Considering the length of time he spends in Europe and the size of Edmonds,
I'd guess he gets the "under 5.000 miles per year" insurance discount..

I remember seeing an interview somewhere with his son where his son basically made fun of the fact that his dad drives beat up junkers. Now, maybe that was just the son being a teenager because it was a long time ago

I admit that wanting to know what car he buys is a little stalker imho. I don’t think that Rick would ever consider himself an expert on cars. just because he’s really good at European travel that doesn’t translate it all to American cars.

Why not check out Consumer Reports, which is a non-profit organization devoted to helping consumers with large and small purchases, including cars? You need a subscription but it's worth it. I always go there before most major purchases as they have really good recommendations. I'm sure they would have better information on new cars than Rick does (with all due respect to Rick). :-)

No shade on my boss, but I'd second the recommendation to seek advice from Consumer Reports. Take it from an insider that his considerations for what he needs are not likely to fit your needs. (He did move on from the green slime, though!) Your considerations will differ for size of car, family size (consider space for car seats as a parent or grandparent), frequency of use or long trips, comfort/luxury, fuel economy, reliability, etc.

Consumer Reports does an excellent job at rating each model and have mounds of historical data informing them as to which cars are most likely to be reliable, etc. As you are a Prius owner from a time when electric cars weren't widely available, if you need another medium-ish-size sedan and you want the best fuel economy at a fair price, I'd start with looking at the newer version of the Leaf. I almost pulled the trigger on one myself (there have been some really great deals recently), but decided it didn't quite fit our needs.

Also, fwiw, I'm a fan of going electric. Many think it will be hard - and some can't because they live in a apt/condo complex with no charging options - but it could not have been easier. I haven't been to a gas station in years and I get all that time back (and much less maintenance too) and I've only rarely needed to use public charging stations on the occasional longer trip.

Have fun finding the right car for you. :)

I'd like to know what brand of potato chips he eats. I'm up for something different.

Good one Gunderson, and do his khakis come from Bean or Lands End?

We should have a Rick Steves Trivia Contest every month where the object is to answer a question about Rick Steves life: what's his favorite sandwich, who irons his shirts, etc.

The winner gets a free tour.

(No ties; I don't think Rick wear 'em anyway)

My Spidey sense is telling me that I might have been misunderstood.

My remarks about Rick hiking through the snow was an attempt at "Chuck Norris" joke(s).

Chuck Norris facts are satirical factoids about American martial artist and actor Chuck Norris that have become an Internet phenomenon widespread in popular culture.

It seems to be an International phenomenon going by that picture of a German University's student sign on the top of the page.

Thanks everyone. I started with consumer reports, then polled my friends, but because I had been a ranger for the NPS most of my life I thought the recommendations were tooo skewed so I thought I would go further out but stick to opinions I trusted. It has been interesting. The only car I have kept was the Prius
