What is the difference from a Italo club executive seat and a club executive Salotto seat?

Traveling with hubby and 2 kids from Rome to Florence on Italo. I want to book the Club Executive seat. It gives me a choice of 60 euro per each or 30 euros per person when I choose "Salotto" (max 4 persone). I used google translator for some of the explanations and I "think" they charge 2 for 4 if you book 3 days in advance. Does this sound right? It seems so cheap for Club Executive seats. Thanks!

I am guessing the Salotto are the club executive seats in a private lounge, 4 seats to a room.

IF you are actually on the Italo web site, there is an option for English.

This may be waaay too late for you, but here are some photos and a video showing what they various cars look like.

And scroll down this page to see the actual seating charts.

The Man in Seat 61 has some fantastic information.

Lori, I also saw those 30€/60€ seats while making a fake reservation; my total for 4 adults showed up as a total of either 120€ or 240€, depending on whether I chose the 30€ or 60€ seats. Those ARE fabulous prices!!!

Have you already booked this leg of your trip? If so, how did your purchase turn out - did you get that price? I'm guessing that the 30€ is a highly-restricted, non-refundable, etc., fare...but in all of my playing around on the Italo site (I'm planning a little trip on Italo myself, perhaps my group will take over an entire Club car!), I never saw that split-price option for Club. Nor can I find any info on the two prices...yet...but I'm still looking ;-)

(Sorry; having trouble editing my other posts)

I found this confirmation on the 4/2 & 4/3 pricing. I didn't read the 58 page Terms and Conds in Italian, though ;-)

I went ahead & bought the tickets. Our first trip will be this Thursday morning. I bought the $30 each. They are only 80% refundable from what I understand.

Dang! That's only about 5€ more than 3 classes down ;-)

I hope you return to this thread and let us know what you thought of the train!

Have a good trip!

Well, to beat this one to death ;-) ...

While playing on the site, the 30/60€ fare is gone; only 60/120€ fares are left. AND it's now clear that the cheaper fare is for the open Club car, and the more expensive fare is for the Club Salotto. The open car is still pretty exclusive at only 11 seats, though ;-)

I appreciate your question, because now I know to look for those 4/2 and 4/3 deals 8^D They'll save me a lot because my trip is much longer than yours...and much more expensive.

We took the train from Rome to Florence, and then from Florence to Venice. The Club Executive seats were awesome! We had our own private room. There are only 2 private club rooms on each train, each seat 4. I'm amazed how great of seats they are for the price. We also went on the train from Florence to Pisa and had to sit coach. They were okay, but NO room. I believe you have to book 4 to get the Club deal. It's so worth it. We canceled our trip to Pompei because it was too hot. Since I had bought the club seat tickets already, I had to request a refund online. It was very simple and took maybe 2 minutes. They only refunded us 80% of the ticket price, which I believe was what it stated when I purchased the tickets.

I hope this helps you :) We are having a wonderful trip!
