What is the best way to visit Italy and France going from Croatia?

My husband and 2 young kids are going to Croatia. We are spending a week in Vis and a few more days visiting Dubrovnik. We are planning on leaving Vis on July 3rd. This is our first time in Europe. Can anyone gives us a best scenario itinerary? We leave from London on July 2oth.

You can take the ferry to Venice. Or you can fly to most anywhere from Dubrovnik. Depends on where in Italy and where in France you are going.

We flew from Dubrovnik to Milan on EasyJet for like 20 Euros. The only downfall is that Italy is notorious for delayed flights. From there you can train to Venice/Florence and then fly to France/UK.

What do you guys think about renting a car and bringing over? Is it a crazy idea to rent a car and drive around Italy?

Do you mean renting a car in Croatia and driving over to Italy? Or renting a car in the US and shipping it to Europe?

We were planning on renting the car in Zagreb airport. And since we are going to a wedding in Oklai, we thought renting the car and keeping it when going to Italy. However, I have read too many things about the traffic in Italy, toll, and other inconveniencies of driving. It may be better to just fly to Rome and then take the trains. Has anyone done this before? Should I buy the pass? We are going to be in Italy for about 5 days.
