I've been hearing alot lately that people are getting great airfare or hotel deals. I'm curious for comparisons. How much did you pay, and where are you going?
I was able to save about $500 a person on our family's summer jaunt. Leaving 6/24 PHX-CDG and coming home 7/14 LHR-PHX. Now I should be able to play a little golf, and my wife can do a little shopping with our kids.
My husband and I found flights from Minneapolis to Barcelona and back to Minneapolis out of Madrid for $595 per person, with one stop each way. Really not bad flights, and so cheap!
Hi Lucy,
We found $680 round trip from Atlanta to Istanbul on Delta for May travel. Six to eight months ago when gas prices were at a peak, I was sure that those airfares were gone for good--just goes to show that you just never know.
So far, I haven't seen hotel "deals"--at least not for Istanbul in May.
United Airlines round trip non stop to London - Heathrow from Denver. $553 per person, including all fees and taxes. I am leaving on March 31 and returning April 7. I think its mid season.
I got open jaw tickets from U.S. Airways for $808 a piece for July 1-22. From Seattle to London (7/1) and from Rome to San Francisco (7/22) (going to SF for a wedding). I saw it drop down to $750 for 1 day after I already bought my tickets, but now they are back up to $970.
I just booked an open jaw trip from Toronto to Rome on September 16th and from Milan to Toronto on October 5th for about $580 US at current US/Cda exchange rates. Airline is Air Canada.
Since they were asking over $900 US for the same flights in January, I am pretty happy.
Travel Zoo posted Aer Lingus flights for $159 from Boston to Shannon and $245 from NYC to Shannon or Dublin. Book by 3/91/09 Darn cheap. Too bad I'm working
I was able to get 2/economy seats for July travel on United using FF miles.SFO-Geneva-SFO. Use those miles!
I just got roundtrip Sacramento - Dublin for the last week of April for $437 including all taxes on Continental. They are doing special fares of 25% off from California. You have to have a special code when you make the reservation. If anyone in CA is interested in the code, just PM me.
There is currently a summer airfare sale from Knoxville, TN to Venice for $570 all taxes included. I've also found high end Prague hotels to be very soft in pricing. For example the Prague 5* Marriott for 80Euro per night in June. Excellent.
I just got flights from Miami to Frankfurt, Germany open jaw and return from Munich to Miami for the first week of April (including spring break) for $416 including taxes and fees. US airways found through kayak.com. Travelzoo posts all the sales. Also try Momondo.com.
we got a centrally located, 4 star hotel in Edingurgh for 300 pounds for 4 nights, i thought this was a great deal, especially since i booked it on bboking.com which charges no fees to cancel as long as it is 3 days before your stay. So if I found a better deal elsewhere I can cancel without any worry
I paid $380 all tax included for San Diego to Dublin in May on US Air
$413.00r/t Dulles to Munich, total price, April 21, United.
I got RT Seattle to Amsterdam 603.00 total on US air for a June trip and RT Seattle to Amsterdam 530.00 total with them again in August. I have one stop in Philly but the price was too good to pass up.
$513 Milwaukee-Newark-Rome (which we bought). Since then, I've seen: $404 Chicago-Paris-Verona or Bologna and $442 Chicago-Rome nonstop.
I would not have thought that $513 for a ticket to Rome was overpaying...
American Airlines: Columbus, Ohio to London RT total about $450 per person via Chicago, leaving mid May and returning early June.
Checking Bestfares TODAY. Great fares: NYC to Dublin for $319 thru May 14.
$449 Denver to Madrid. $469 NYC to Athens.
RT from Seattle to Paris on US Airways in early September for $618 per person.
New York-Madrid-Amsterdam on 9/14/09; Munich-Madrid-New York on 10/01/09 for $429 all in...not bad, I think.
I thought I got a fairly decent flight from Lexington KY to Frankfurt for $620 total cost per ticket at the end of June, coming back in late July. I had originally planned on having to pay double that, so I saved quite a bit on 3 tickets.
Round trip San Francisco-Berlin for $530 on Northwest/KLM, in May.
$408 Base fare was 293 + 115 fees. Chicago Ohare to London on 5/7/09; Returning Paris-Ohare 5/19/09 on American Airlines. Both are non-stop. The Netherlands has placed large taxes on flights coming and going. Germany is cheaper with less taxes. Booked 3/25/09.
If you're flying out of ORD, check Aer Lingus and Swiss International Air to any of their destinations. They both seem to consistently have some of the lowest economy fares available. Connections are through Dublin and Zurich respectively. Skyscanner.com is a great site for comparsion shopping...lots of search tools.
Yeah, too bad I booked 1,100 per ticket from SLC to CDG, home from Munich to Salt Lake in November! I found the exact ticket today for 618.00 per person! Are you kidding, I called Delta paid 250.00 per ticket to change and ended up getting a 500.00 voucher back!
I am so glad I got something I can't believe they are so cheap! Now I can put the 500.00 towards my next trip to Europe or Hawaii!
Well, we got a good deal $760.00 round trip Nashville to Dublin in September. But the deal is even better now. $520.00 (withOUT taxes) for the same flight. We're flying Continental.
The other great deal we got was at the Belvedere Hotel in Dublin. It's within walking distance of Temple Bar and we got it for $52.00/nt on Orbitz. The sale ended last month, though...
Clark Howard just announced on his radio show a flight on U.S. Airways. The following is from his website. This would be from Atlanta.
