What area is best to stay in London and what hotel, b&b?
We stayed at the Somerset Bayswater Hotel near Notting Hill, a 3 minute walk to the Bayswater tube station. We were there in March 2007.
We loved it. It had a wonderful breakfast (included) and a nice, airy room with kitchen. We got a good deal, though I'm can't remember what we paid ... I think 90 pounds per night.
Getting around London to all the sights was a breeze on the tube. The Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill was a 10 minute walk.
Couldn't recommend it more highly as we really enjoyed our stay.
We enjoy staying in Bayswater. Close to two tube
stations, Queensbury and Bayswater. Also many
restaurants and Whitely Shopping Center with a great
Marks and Spencers.
Kyraid Princess is a good low price hotel in neighborhood at abou $150 per night. It is not air conditioned if you are going in dead of summer. Avoid both Shaftsbury hotels in the area. From experience they are badly run. See Trip Advisor.
