websites for airfares

Try Kayak.com which takes you to Airfare.com which I found a fare $150 cheaper than another site but then I found Ultimate Fares ($517 RT to London non stop from Seattle, WA in June) and the ticket was $200 less that what I had just paid. ugh! I was a little hesitant to use these websites but I read where others off this site had used the Kayak site for their ticket purchases. What has been your experience. I hope all goes well with the Airfare.com site.

I think these sites(with Kayak being one of the most frequently mentioned ones) are good for Americans, but useless for Canadians unless they are willing to fly out of an American city( meaning also close enough to do so easily). I considered Seattle but once I added in the trip to Seattle from my home, and the hotel night( flights seem to always leave early am, LOL) they were no longer good flights, Plus ,,, they have these 15-20 hour death march flights, I mean landing in three different stops, really horrible lay overs.
I checked Kayak constantly for flights Victoria or Vancouver B.C. to Europe( Rome , Paris or London) and they consistantly found me flights that were more expensive then one of our major low cost airlines. I eventually bought directly from airline ( Air Zoom) . In fact they don't seem to quote low cost airlines( I never saw anything but the " big " names anyways but perhaps I was just unlucky)

I use the sites like kayak.com to find the lowest fares then I go directly to the airline's website and attempt to book it there. Sometimes that works...sometimes it doesn't.

Airfare.com seems to be an OK place to deal with as long as you don't want to make changes after you book and pay for your ticket. We used them to Prague last Fall, and it was just fine. However, I've read where other people have needed to make changes after they purchased the ticket from airfare.com and they have horror stories.

I was in the Kayak website and when I clicked on their name it went into the Airfare.com site. I hope I don't have a horror story since I've bought my ticket. I saw that Ultimate fares.com had the same flight for $200 cheaper but I had already hit the "send" button. I checked with NW website and their same flight was over $1200. So even for $752, I saved a couple hundred from another consolidator. We just won't change our ticket! - although my husband came home from work and said oops, he was suppose to go to a business meeting during the time we are going to be done. We have our ticket so we're going.

Kayak so far has shown me the best prices on my search.I went to ultimatefare today and there prices are seen as "lower" until they add the tax on ..then they are 20 higher than delta themselves. Airfare.com never gives me a price always saying the server is down and call customer service or they will email me. I'm still waiting. I'm assuming in the next month that all airlines are going to be having lower prices .....the days i'm going to italy and returning I can count the seats sold opposed to seats available. If the flight was in 2 weeks they would probobly cancel the flights since they have so much room available.
