We will be in Murs (with hire car), near Avignon, and would like to travel to the Cinque Terrae. We plan to travel by train but it looks like the trip to Genova is over 6 hours. Any ideas on how to shorten the trip? Also any ideas on the quickest was to Rome from the Cinque Terrae that does not involve flying. thanks

I don't think Avignon to the CT by plane would be very practical. Take the train. And the same advice to get to Rome from the CT. Simply train south.
