Water bottles at CDG Paris

Can anyone tell me if we can purchase bottled water after security to take on the plane? I've read some conflicting information on this. Also are the standards the same for other liquids as they are in the states?

I didn't go through CDG but I bought bottled water after security at every European airport i just traveled through (6 of them). You can also buy liquid in the duty free shops (had some euros to get rid of, so i bought some olive oil in Rome!) The standards are exactly the same, just metric, so for example in your baggie, you are allowed 100ml instead of 3oz (100ml is about 3.4oz), I believe pretty much all of Europe is on board with the 3-1-1 program and I had no problems when I put my ziploc baggie on the conveyor belts. have a good trip!

There was a big sign in terminal 2A at CDG (Continental and Air Canada) that said that any liquids purchased past security could be carried on. If it's water, you can probably drink it right there. All duty-free purchases are sealed and must remain sealed until after you clear Customs, no matter what it is.

Thanks so much. I'll just buy the water and keep it sealed. It's so nice to be able to get the facts on this site.

No, no! You can buy water after security and open it right up and take it on the plane. Duty free liquor has to stay sealed.

Different rules

I have found to my dismay that Frankfurt is an exception. If you are one of those who goes through security twice (it's a portable and seems to move to a different area every time I fly), you cannot take even water purchased in the airport through and must toss it. And so far as I can find, there is no way to avoid this except taking an empty bottle with you and filling it at a drinking fountain at the last possible stop before entering the gate.

I should have mentioned that we will be flying from Seattle to Paris on Air France. Their rules about bringing water bottles purchased after security may be different.
Thanks for all the help.

The airlines have almost nothing to do with security rules - it's the airport that staffs security and thus the airport management company and/or 'TSA equivalent' that decides what is allowed through. Which is why it's so irritating when each airline in Europe posts its own list of what you can take on the plane - the lists are meaningless because it's up to the security personnel what to let through - and they have no idea what airline you are flying with, let alone the rules for each airline.

Generally, if you want to bring water on the plane, you must buy it after you go through the last security check. However, this may vary in some airports, so be prepared to throw out or empty the bottle if it's not allowed through security.

Mary,
I am from the Seattle area as well and I have always been able to purchase water bottles after the security check points to bring onto the plane. They are quite expensive but I enjoyed having my water bottle on the plane.

Or you could just bring your own water bottle and fill it up at the fountains past the security check point. That's all I ever do. I assume the water at these fountains is safe enough to drink. Bottled water at the Airport is often at an inflated price!

I just carry an empty Sports drink bottle like Poweraid or Gateraid as I often leave them somewhere in my travels!
You can always ask an F/A to fill your bottle on board. It is bottled water also, incase you MUST have bottled water!
Just don't fill your bottle with the water from the tap on board the plane. Some ppl actually do this! It is recirculated water which can sit in the tanks for quite awhile. I've even seen some signs in the Lav on some Airlines which specify the water is not potable. The signs aren't always there but this is still often the case.
