We would like to get a more reasonable shuttle fare on the morning of Sept 16 from Passau to Prague after our river cruise ends. There are 2 of us, and if we have 2 more all of our per person costs would get lower. If interested, please respond asap to: [email protected]
Have you considered taking the train or train/bus? For that date, you can travel 2nd-class (nice) for €29 - €69, depending on the particular train taken. Go to Deutsche Bahn. You might also consider posting this thread under the Graffiti Wall heading 'European Travel Partners Wanted'.
You purchase a Bayern-Ticket in Passau (€26 for 2P). Take the 10:24 train from Passau to Plattling (10:59). Change in Plattling to the 11:07 train to Bayerisch Eisenstein (12:13). In Bayerisch-Eisenstein the train stops on the German side, you walk over the Border to Železná Ruda-Alžbetín and buy tickets in the Czech half of the station for €11/p (273 Kc) to Prague. There is a direct train from Zelezna Ruda (12:45) to Prague (16:51). Total cost per person, about €24.
Thank you both for your replies. Taking the train sounds like a lot of shuffling to get there. I could take the train from Munich as well, as the river cruise will transport us there in the morning of Sept 16 for no charge. I did look quickly at the fares some time ago, and it was pretty expensive I thought. Maybe I should look at this again. I can take the CK Shuttle, but the cost for both of us is $160 USD. A private shuttle for 2 persons is about $240 USD. But, a shared ride would be greatly reduced. They will drop us off at the hotel as well. If we could coordinate a few other passengers on the same ride, I believe it would be the best bet. The total time to get there is 3 1/2 hrs. by vehicle I think. Any more thoughts or advice? Any other interested travelers interested in sharing a ride from Passau to Prague? Let me know. Thanks!
Does your river cruise have a social director or someone who might be able to help you to interact with other people on the cruise who might be interested in sharing a shuttle? Just an idea.
Passau to Munich is in the wrong direction, but if they'll take you there for free, why not? There is an direct Intercity bus run by the Bahn that leaves the north side of the Munich main station every three hours (12:45, 15:45) for Prague. The trip takes 5 hours. Right now you can get a seat on that bus for €29 with advance purchase on the German Rail (Bahn) website.
