Wales Train System and Flights Within the UK and the Republic of Ireland

What is the best site to book flights within the UK and the Republic of Ireland?

I did a phone consultation and I cannot find the notes. There was specific site the consultant mentioned.

I am trying to pick the top 5 cities to visit in each country that has associated train stops. Anyone have suggestions?

I don't think there is one site for UK/RoI flights. It is sensible to book direct with the airline.

On many UK routes that is likely to be Easyjet or BA, on flights to the RoI it is more likely to be Ryanair or Aer Lingus/Emerald Airways.

On some UK routes Loganair may be the carrier.

Look at the individual airport website to see who operates the links you want. Almost all airports in the UK at least, and most in the RoI will have good transit links, but don't get hung up on that having to be by rail.

For instance Edinburgh is not rail connected, but has an excellent tram link and frequent dedicated express bus links into the city. Likewise Glasgow has an excellent bus link, but no rail.

Buy your airline tickets directly from the airline you're flying.

All major cities in the UK have train stations.

In Ireland, it may be a combination of train and bus. It's also smaller so there aren't as many internal flights.

Choose where you want to go and then look at transportation options.

For flights, use Google Flights to see schedules and then go to the airline to buy your ticket.

Use National Rail for UK train schedules.

This website will give you links to the rail and coach options in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland:

Jidaco4698 reported to webmaster. Stick with the airlines. He changed his name to Ike Lowe and he's still reported as well.

As the OP specifically asked about trains in Wales this is the UK rail map- https://assets.nationalrail.co.uk/e8xgegruud3g/5fzeEKhKFk5ms4Ip6wGpG1/3a9eb099cf65a34bc97f0103be07abbf/Rail_map_v38_orange_May_23.pdf

As you can see the system is good in the north and the south, with one main line running north to south, but not much in the middle. In the 'here be dragons' middle area trains are complemented with the good , comprehensive and ever developing Traws Cymru network of bus services- https://traws.cymru/en

OK here is the all stations map. This also shows all tram and light rail networks, plus the Glasgow subway and London underground, plus the stations and routes due to open in the rest of 2023 and for the whole of 2024 (plus HS2). I currently expect two more station openings this year- Brent Cross West (London) and Headbolt Lane (Merseyside). I think it is 14 stations and two brand new railways in 2024.

It is currently 5 days out of date as one of the West Midlands tram extensions (to Wolverhampton station) opened last Sunday.
