Vueling Airlines - Experience: Good/Bad

Hi Everyone:

I wanted to fly from Barcelona to either Rome or Venice. I noticed there are different low-cost airlines you can take. What are some people's experience of Vueling Airlines?

Is the Vueling Pack Go! service worth the 25euros for a little added insurance if you need to change your flight times or get a boarding seat first?

Any other suggestions besides Vueling? I know I don't want to take a train, so airlines is what I am willing to do. I also understand there are weight restrictions and other added fees, but I was looking for more information about timeliness of flights and cancellations. Is Vueling reliable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I've flown Vueling several times and found them to be generally dependable. I don't think I've been more than 15 minutes behind schedule, and I've been impressed with the condition of the aircraft and the crew service.
Theres' really no need for the Go! service for seating....you can pay 3 Euro to get a regular seat and 5 for a front seat, as you book your ticket. So it's not necessary for "boarding first" since you can get an assigned seat anyway. As for whether it's worth it for changing your flight schedule....I guess that depends on how confident you are you can make the original flight.....or whether you want the flexibility to shift things around.

I'm not familiar with the Pack Go service, but we flew Vueling this summer and had no problems whatsoever. We even landed 10 minutes early!

I was supposed to fly Vueling from LHR-Bilbao but the Iceland volcano had other plans. Vueling sent me an email and text saying the flight was canceled and to either rebook or fill out a form on the website for a full refund. Since we changed plans we asked for the full refund. We didn't get a confirmation immediately but about 3 weeks later we got an email and a credit back to our card.

I was never able to get through on their Customer Service number from the US or while in Spain but I'd say the situation was handled appropriately by them.

I flew Vueling last year between Barcelona and Granada. While our particular flight was delayed by an hour or two, I think that statistically they have very good "On Time" departure/arrival record (at least that is what I seem to recall from my research last year).

It was a perfectly suitable airline for us (short, inexpensive flights); we did not pay extra for early boarding and had no issues finding two seats together (not that it would have mattered, really). As to the insurance portion, we didn't have insurance for any flight changes, either, but I suppose it all depends on how set in stone your itinerary is and the liklihood you'll want to make changes. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.
