I need to fly from Paris to Venice in September. Have been hearing some negatives about Ryanair...and it doesn't fly to the closest Venice airport. Have heard some good things about Easyjet but Vueling seems to have better pricing. There are some posts on this site about folks who have had issues with Vueling. Does anyone have experience flying Vueling they wouldn't mind sharing?
I fly Vueling often. It is very much like Southwest Airlines in the US.
The seats are compact - so I usually get to the airport a little early and request row 12 (emergency exit) for just a bit more leg room.
I find Vueling simple and easy to use. The prices are great if booked early - just don't expect Emerites service. To check bags and food/drink are additional charges - which is becoming typical for most carriers.
They will speak English on these flights.
My wife and I flew that exact flight (Vueling, Paris to Venice) last month, and it was an easy, positive experience for us. Just be sure to get to the airport in plenty of time. Our boarding pass said that the check-in counter closes 40 minutes before the departure time, no exceptions, so we made sure to get there about 2 hours early. I chose Vueling over Ryanair for the exact reason you mentioned -- it doesn't use the main airports -- and I liked Vueling's flight schedule better than EasyJet's. (We took at 6pm-ish fight).
I've flown with Vueling several times and never had an issue with them. Nice new planes (no garish orange!), friendly staff, and no pushing to purchase all the Easy extras.
I flew Vueling in May. No problems. I have used quite a few budget Euro airlines though and not had problems with any of them. Just don't expect anything fancy! And be warned: strict on luggage weight requirements and be prepared to pay extra if you are even 1 kilo over! Check in went smoothly, staff was professional and helpful, me and my luggage made it to my destination on time. Not sure what more could be expected especially at budget cost!
I, too, had a very good experience with Vueling just about a year ago from Lisbon to Barcelona. Can't complain - I got there on time and my luggage did too, and that's what was important to me!
Thanks for all your advice. Although I tried to purchase my tickets on Vueling last night and I had a lot of trouble. I think I read a post on another forum about a woman who experienced trouble purchasing as well. And I have to call international to get help. Arrgh. I'll keep trying!
yes......i did fail to mention that b/c actually i had kind of forgot! the website would not take my credit card to book tickets. i tried 2 different cards and made multiple attempts. no luck. i had a spanish speaking co-worker nearby and we called Vueling (they are in Spain). the rep didn't speak English and my co-worker handled it for me and made my reservation. vueling was the only Euro airline that i had problem booking with though. all others it worked just fine. so.....if you can get over that hurdle......the actually service/transport is just fine.
