Vienna to Salzburg

Tricia, I don't know about scenery, but we're planning this same route for our next trip. We will be stopping and touring Mauthausen concentration which lies between Vienna and Salzburg.

When you are at Mauthausen, be sure and look out through the barbed wire into the countryside. Notice how green, peaceful, and beautiful it is. My visit to Mauthausen as a student remains one of my most vivid and lifechanging memories of my time in Austria. It was a very sobering experience, and I'm deeply glad that my school arranged the visit on our way from Salzburg to Vienna for spring break.

Mauthhausen is worth a visit and nearby is the town of Melk.It has a great Abby towering over the town.
